🚨 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 🚨

I will no longer be posting identifiable photos of children’s faces on my photography page. Signed release or not.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals just ruled that privately possessing AI-generated CSAM depicting “fictional” children can be constitutionally protected when it stays within the home. So, we should probably talk about the recent federal court ruling involving AI-generated child sexual abuse material.. The court ruled that the federal government cannot criminalize the private, in-home possession of obscene AI-generated CSAM under the statute at issue
so anyone can go and use any picture of a child’s face or body and make child sexual abuse material and it is completely LEGAL.

That is enough for me to say I will not be a part of the problem. If our government and laws aren’t going to adequately protect children from what AI can do with their images, then I feel a responsibility to do my part to protect them.

I am a mom, and I will/would protect any child like they were my own. 🤍

📸✨ LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: THE MASON JAR ✨📸

“You never know what you’ll find.”

That might be the perfect way to describe The Mason Jar—but there’s a lot more to this local business than the treasures you’ll find inside.

Owned by Tammy Mason, The Mason Jar officially opened its doors on December 11, 2023. And while the store may be relatively new, the story behind it began during one of the most difficult seasons of Tammy’s life.

When Tammy’s husband was diagnosed with cancer and had to quit working, their family found themselves relying on their savings, friends, and family to help cover medical expenses. As treatment continued, those savings quickly disappeared.

Tammy began selling clothes from her own closet to help bring in money.

Then she started buying clothing to resell. She would sell it, use the profit to buy more, and start the process all over again. She kept going because she had to—and because she was determined to do whatever she could to help her family through her husband’s treatment.

Thankfully, her husband eventually went into remission. ❤️

And from that challenging chapter came the inspiration for The Mason Jar.

Tammy has always loved the hunt of thrifting. She believes that thrifters are going to find a way to find it cheap—and she wanted to create a place where people could find quality items, including brand names, without paying brand-name prices.

But there’s another story behind the name.

Tammy credits her best friend Jan with coming up with the iconic name. The two were simply sitting around throwing out different ideas when they landed on The Mason Jar—Mason being Tammy’s last name.

“Tammy Mason is the Mason Jar.”

The name fits because The Mason Jar is a reflection of Tammy herself: resourceful, determined, community-minded, and always looking for a way to help.

Tammy will tell you that The Mason Jar is not just a thrift store.

“You can come and find what you need. It’s not just about what we sell.”

She wants people to know that she is there for her community. If someone walks through the door and says, “Somebody said you can help me,” Tammy wants to be the person who does whatever she can to help.

That commitment to community extends far beyond the walls of her store.

🌙 MOONLIGHT ON MAIN

Tammy is one of the founders of a special monthly event called Moonlight on Main, held on the 4th Friday of every month, giving local businesses the opportunity to stay open late until 9 p.m. This idea was brought about as a collaboration between several local downtown businesses to encourage supporting local and benefit the community.

The idea is simple but important: not everyone can shop during traditional 9-to-5 hours or make it out on weekends. Moonlight on Main gives people another opportunity to get out, shop local, and support the businesses in their community.

🍎 FEED MY FRIENDS

Tammy also founded the local nonprofit Feed My Friends, which began as a Christmas Food Basket program.

Today, the store has partnered with Feeding America, providing 60 of the more than 100 food boxes distributed each month.

Tammy is also involved in the Summer Nutrition Program, which helps feed approximately 450 local children every Monday during the summer.

And she is quick to point out that she couldn't do any of it alone.

She has a village of approximately 24 local volunteers who help make it happen.

“It truly takes a village.”

Tammy believes that “If we can lighten your load, you can do more.”

And when it comes to Christmas, her philosophy is simple:

“Everyone deserves to enjoy Christmas.” ❤️

🛍️ SO, WHAT WILL YOU FIND AT THE MASON JAR?

That's part of the fun—you never really know!

The store offers clothing, accessories, general household goods, and a variety of vendors bringing their own unique niche products, including:

🐾 Dog collars
🎨 Sublimation products
🏺 Antiques and jewelry
🥫 Jarred goods and vegetables
💎 Handmade jewelry and diamond art
🌸 Handmade wreaths and flower arrangements
📦 Pallet and liquidation items
🍵 Tea packets
🔨 Blacksmith goods
And so much more!

And while you're browsing, you can even grab a cup of coffee provided by another local business, Bee Happy Coffee. ☕🐝

But perhaps the most important thing you’ll find at The Mason Jar isn't something that can be put on a shelf.

It's community.

When asked why shopping local is so important to her, Tammy said:

“It supports local families and those in your community. It supports the local economy. If we don't support local, then we don't have local. Everything will go away and the town will dry up.”

That belief is woven into everything Tammy does.

Her own community helped her family when they needed it most. Now, she is using her business, her nonprofit work, and her time to give back.

The Mason Jar isn't simply a place to find a great bargain.

It's a place where you might find exactly what you were looking for.

It's a place where you might discover something you didn't even know you needed.

It's a place where local vendors have a chance to grow.

It's a place where a cup of coffee can support another small business.

And it's a place where, if you walk through the door and say, “Somebody said you can help me,” Tammy will do her best to make sure you don't leave without being heard.

Tammy's story is a reminder that sometimes the hardest seasons of our lives can become the foundation for something beautiful.

It’s never too late. Remember where you came from. Give back when you can. And never underestimate what a community can accomplish when it comes together.

Because, as Tammy knows firsthand…

It truly takes a village. ❤️

📍 The Mason Jar
🛍️ Come for the bargains. Stay for the community.
✨ And remember: You never know what you'll find!

🌟 Small Business Spotlight: Geeks Paradise Games 🌟

This week, I'm excited to introduce Geeks Paradise Games, a local shop that's quickly become a welcoming space for collectors, gamers, anime fans, and anyone who loves to let their inner geek shine.

Owner Morgan opened the doors in April and has already celebrated three amazing months in business. What started as a dream has become a place where the community can gather, discover new favorites, and simply enjoy being themselves.

The name Geeks Paradise Games couldn't be more fitting. Morgan proudly considers herself a geek and wanted to create a place where people could truly "geek out." The name also pays tribute to her longtime online username, *MomoStarGeek*, making the shop a personal reflection of who she is.

Her vision was simple: bring the variety and excitement of larger retailers like BoxLunch and Hot Topic to our local community while also creating opportunities for local artists to showcase and sell their work. It's a place where popular fandoms and hometown creativity come together.

Like many new business owners, Morgan has learned that running a shop comes with plenty of surprises. One of the biggest? Profit margins are much smaller than most people realize, and the amount of paperwork behind the scenes can be overwhelming. Even so, her passion for the business and the people she serves keeps her going every day.

When asked what she loves most about our community, her answer says it all:

"A lot of good people have walked through our doors. People can spend time just talking to each other and being themselves right after walking in."

That welcoming atmosphere is built on three core values Morgan refuses to compromise:

✨ Honesty
✨ Transparency
✨ Fair Prices

"I think hobbies should be affordable."

It's more than a saying—it's how she runs her business. Morgan works hard to keep prices competitive, often matching or even beating prices you'd expect to find at big-box retailers. She also offers payment arrangements on pre-orders, making it easier for customers to enjoy the hobbies they love without stretching their budgets.

And when you stop by, don't forget to say hello to the shop's four-legged mascot, Umbreon! This friendly shop cat has become part of the Geeks Paradise experience and is always happy to greet visitors (or supervise from a cozy spot around the store).

Geeks Paradise Games is more than just a store—it's a community where everyone is welcome, conversations happen naturally, and being yourself is always encouraged.

If you haven't stopped by yet, go check them out, support a local dream, meet Umbreon, and see why so many people are already calling Geeks Paradise Games their new favorite place to geek out.

📸 **Local Business Spotlight: 4C’s Custom Creations & More** 💜

Behind every small business is a story—and this one is built on family, creativity, and community.

Meet Courtney & Scott Campbell, the owners of 4C's Custom Creations & More in Cadiz. Their journey began in August 2022 as a home-based business, but the inspiration started with something as simple as a pen.

After purchasing a handmade pen from a vendor, Courtney remembers thinking, *"I think I can do this better."* She created her first pen, people began asking for more, and before long, what started as a creative hobby grew into a thriving small business.

For 16 years, Courtney worked in healthcare, and in those later years, creating beaded items became her therapy and creative escape. After spending 2½ years vending at Junkfest and 2 years at Hamfest, Courtney and Scott took a leap of faith and opened their storefront in Cadiz on January 20, 2026.

The name 4C's is a tribute to their blended family—Courtney, Scott, and each of their children all have a last name starting with the letter "C", making them the four "C's.

Their signature purple branding carries an even deeper meaning. It honors Courtney's younger brother, Bo, who passed away eight years ago. If you've visited the shop, you've probably noticed the pig out front affectionately named "Bo"hamn—a heartfelt tribute that keeps his memory close.

But 4C's is about more than custom creations. Courtney is passionate about supporting fellow small businesses, proudly offering products from local vendors like 'Grizzly Up Soap Co.' (based in Hopkinsville) and 'Mama's Corner', creating a space where other entrepreneurs can shine alongside them.

You'll also find beautiful handcrafted woodworking created by Scott and Courtney's son, making 4C's a true family business from top to bottom.

When asked what she loves most about being part of the local community, Courtney didn't hesitate:

"The people welcomed me, and everyone has been so supportive."

That sense of community is exactly what makes this business so special.

When she's not at the shop, you'll likely find Courtney with her son at the Lonestar Rodeo, spending time with her grandbaby, creating permanent jewelry, or bringing holiday magic to local events. Courtney and Scott are also nationally registered "Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus", spreading joy through appearances, photography sessions, and community events throughout the year.

From handcrafted gifts and custom creations to supporting other local makers, 4C's Custom Creations & More is a wonderful example of what happens when passion, perseverance, and community come together.

If you haven't stopped by yet, make plans to visit, meet the Campbells, and see everything they have to offer. Every purchase supports a local family that is dedicated to giving back to the community that welcomed them with open arms. 💜

Have you visited 4C's Custom Creations & More? Tell us your favorite thing about the shop in the comments!
