Two years old, tractor obsessed, and completely at home on the farm. 🚜💚 Will John Deere sponsor this kid already?! 🫣

We celebrated this sweet boy with a John Deere Classic cake smash on his family’s private Kentucky farm—but made time for the moments surrounding the milestone, too. Snuggles with Mom, adventures with Dad, giggles with big sister, and plenty of room to run and play.

For the busy moms who are usually the ones planning everything, keeping everyone moving, and taking the photos themselves: this is your reminder to step into the frame. Your babies won’t only want to remember what childhood looked like—they’ll want to remember you there, too. 🫶🏼

Can we take a moment for the veil?!

Your veil isn’t just an accessory… it’s one of my favorite photography tools on a wedding day.

When you’re choosing your veil, don’t only think about how it looks standing still in front of the mirror — think about how it’s going to move.

A longer veil gives us SO much to play with. ✨

- The way it catches the wind during portraits.
- The way it trails behind you walking down the aisle.
- The soft layer it creates around the two of you when I pull it forward for those dreamy, intimate shots.
- The movement when you turn, walk, laugh, or get swept up in a hug.

And if your dress is more simple? A veil with lace, pearls, embroidery or subtle detail can add the prettiest texture without taking away from the dress itself.

Photographer tip of the week - If you’re stuck between two veil lengths… go longer. 👏🏼

You can always take your veil out later in the day, but those dramatic, romantic veil photos are something you only get to create once. And trust me — I will be putting that veil to work. 💁🏽‍♀️

Choose the one that makes you feel like a bride… but maybe also choose the one that’s going to look incredible flying through the air behind you.

If you’re worried your little one won’t cooperate for their first birthday photos… this is your sign to book them anyway.

You can plan it all out, pick the perfect theme, get everyone dressed and out the door on time… and your newly-minted one-year-old may still decide that today is, in fact, the worst day of their entire life.

And that’s okay.

Cake smash sessions don’t have to start with smiles to end with a gallery FULL of them. We give them time to warm up, take breaks, switch things around, bring out the silly noises, play a little, snuggle with Mom when needed, and sometimes… we just have to push through a tiny tantrum first.

Because the last photo on the bottom? That was the beginning.

The last photo on the top? That’s what happened when we gave him a little time.

So please, don’t stress about whether your baby will “cooperate.” You bring me your baby exactly as they are — happy, shy, clingy, serious, wild, or mid-meltdown — and I’ll take care of the rest.

The goal isn’t a perfectly behaved one-year-old.

It’s a gallery that captures your perfect ONE-year-old. 🍪 🤎🎂✨
