Want to look better in photos? Here’s the secret: Don’t say cheese 🤯

Seriously, the fake smile is the fastest way to look like… well, like you’re faking it.

Instead, here’s what I’ll tell you instead:

🫢 Think of something that made you laugh the hardest in the past 24 hours
🧘🏽‍♀️ Take a breath and exhale slowly
👣 Keep moving — twirl, walk, play, interact
🙈 And above all… pretend I’m not there (until I accidentally screech “ohmygawd sooo cute” which I will)

The best photos don’t come from perfect poses and cheesy smiles — they come from genuine connection and relaxed energy. That’s what I’m always aiming to capture.

So if the idea of getting in front of a camera makes your shoulders tense up… I’ll also have my best dad joke waiting in my back pocket for ya 😜

The magic in photos, IMO, isn’t in the perfect pose - it’s in the connection. I don’t need you to smile at the camera. I want you to laugh and snuggle and dance and be you.

Those moments are the moments that show who you are and how you love each other. And I think that’s where the magic is 🪄✨

Wildflower Minis sessions are opening this upcoming Monday, June 23rd!

The last time I was able to offer these mini sessions was 2021 and they were a huge hit, so if you missed them before, now is your chance to frolic in the flowers with me 🌸

These will take place in August at North Park during prime bloom season, and I’m so excited to see some new faces and some familiar faces! Typically I only have room in my schedule to offer mini sessions to those in the Membership, so I’m feeling extra thankful to have a little more time this year to open them to the public.

Hellooooooo summer! I know, I know - You’ve got sunscreen to apply, popsicles to chase, and maybe a road trip or two on the calendar.

But let me tell ya… blink and it’ll be September. Blink twice and your calendar will be full of school events, holiday prep, and pumpkin spice overload.

Just imagine if you DIDN’T have to squeeze your annual family photo session into the chaos between fall sports and business trips!?

What if - hear me out - you booked your session NOW… when the evenings are long, the light is dreamy, and your to-do list isn’t trying to eat you alive?

Fact: Summer sessions just hit different. Everyone has fall leaves and flannel on for their holiday cards… but you could have barefoot babies in the sprinkler. Melty ice cream in the backyard. Golden hour in a wildflower field. Cue *nostalgia*.

So let’s make the most of all that summer joy before the pumpkin spice lattes take over ☕️

I *used to* think professional photos were just for milestones.

Think maternity sessions. Newborn shoots. First birthdays.

But the older I get—and the more I see families grow, change, and move through the everyday stuff—I realize the less flashy, quieter moments are the ones that often get forgotten about.

The sibling squabbles, the couch cuddles, the messy rooms and artwork-covered refrigerators.

Because (unfortunately) life doesn’t send calendar invites for the things you’ll miss most. They’ll just happen quietly and in the background, and you won’t even notice they’ve passed.

So this is your reminder that you don’t need a milestone (or calendar invite) to book a session. You just need to want to remember *this moment*.

So I’m when you are 😉

Remember those “about me” self-portraits we made in kindergarten? Consider this my grown up version to reintroduce myself to the world of social media, since I haven’t done that for awhile.

Just an FYI - your family doesn’t need to be perfect for beautiful photos.

If you’ve ever worried that your family is too wild, too chaotic, or too unpredictable for a photo session - this is for you. I want to tell you something really important: the best family photos don’t come from perfection. They come from *gasp* real life and real moments.

Social media 100% makes it seem like we need matching GAP outfits, perfectly behaved kids, and Pinterest-worthy smiles to have a “successful” session. But let me tell you... This. Is. A. Lieeee. The most meaningful photos happen when you let go of the pressure and just *be* with your people.

I expect your toddler to wiggle. I expect your baby to snack. I even expect someone to get dirt on their pants within five minutes and someone will probably have a meltdown. That’s real life—and those in-between, unfiltered moments? They’re the ones that make your photos feel like YOU.
