Highlights from Lisa & Robin’s Acadia elopement day:

– one of those unreal bluebird days with blooming flowers, deep blue water, and rugged cliffs that make you exlaim “I’m alive again!” after a long long winter

– a first look decided by rock, paper, scissors (equal parts practical and iconic)

– a cake topper and many references to their cat, Amelia (which, as my name twin, made me feel very bonded to her from afar)

– a Cuban-inspired three-course meal shared with new friends, old fashioneds, and the best chocolate mouse cake you can imagine

It was very good day to be a third wheel. 🤩

I recall a post circulating Instagram last summer from a photographer who shared a beautiful, editorial wedding with stunning composition, beautiful editing, and timeless snaps from what appeared to be a legendary celebration.

The catch?

The photographs weren’t real. They were conjured by an AI prompt and, at first glance, no one could tell.

We all know this is problematic – it’s a given. But photographers creating fake photos for their portfolios is just the tip of the iceberg in how AI has become destructive to the wedding photography community.

“So… what does a typical elopement day look like?”

It’s a question I hear all the time from couples who’ve taken the leap to elope, but are still figuring out what that really means for their day.

One of my favorite things about elopements is that there is no such thing as a “typical” elopement day. Each celebration is shaped and crafted to feel deeply personal, joyful, and entirely centered on the two of you.

As my couples begin envisioning their elopement, I often ask a simple question: What does your perfect day together look like?
