One of the neatest things we saw! As I read the remember Slocum at the bottom I instantly knew it was a reference to the Slocum massacre. I researched Jack Hollie and found that he was a successful business man and land owner in the Slocum Community. His family reports that he had roughly 700 acres and the only store in Slocum before the massacre. After July 29 1910 he fled with his family and lost everything. His original grave was unmarked. In 2015 researchers used ground penetrating radar to help his descendants confirm the burial location and install this headstone. Jack was a survivor but the violence changed his family's future.
