I have been working with photography since my early teens. I started by working in a county newspaper, developing and printing the photos for each weeks edition. After a couple of years of darkroom experience, I finally picked up a camera and started shooting for myself. I have been after it ever since, now going on almost fifty years of experience!

Last nights aurora display was spectacular! It started with a low, single "cloud" stretching from east to west, then changed to dancing pillars reaching high into the sky, and then culminated in a swirling mass of green, yellow, and red lights. Not a bad way to end my time near Fairbanks!

Okay, I lied. THIS is the final post (for now!) of the 2026 Iditarod Ceremonial Start.

There was one Musher in the Ceremonial that isn't running the actual race, but still was allowed to run in the Ceremonial Start. (I believe it is Nicholas Petit.) This Musher had his lead sled dog as his passenger in the sled.

Look at the intensity and stability in that dog! Although not "running" with the others in harness, it is STILL directing the pack! Remember that rounding this corner only took a few seconds, so pay attention to the movements of that "passenger" Lead Dog!
