Ashley has punch cards for her eggs so that you can pay ahead and worry about having cash available. I told her I would love to put the price of a family session on my egg tab. Bartering feels SO much better than cash. And, then too, I got to spend the evening at their family farm. I had the best time walking around the farm meeting all the animals and talking to the kids as we went.They are the kind of kids that make you happy you are in this world. Their oldest daughter, the creative, made the dress (earlier that day) that she wore for the shoot. Their younger daughter is everything farmgirl, her Dad's sidekick. And their little boy runs. He runs and smiles and makes the world great! I am so glad that the eggs I eat are collected by his little hands.

On Saturday, despite the threat of rain and the dark clouds I met Isabella at her family ranch for senior photos. Isabella show pigs in 4-H. Last year the pig, shown in the photos below, won a contest at the state fair. She is very involved in FFA, and
she plans to help the family run their feedlot when she graduates. She's talented, confident, and just a sweetheart.

Ryder has spirit. She's beautifully animated, intelligent, and funny. The thing I quickly learned about Ryder is that she doesn't need to be posed for portraits. She needs only to be observed and captured because anything not Ryder is a level below greatness. :)
Ryder loves basketball. She loves riding horses at A Moment of Freedom (https://www.facebook.com/amoftherapeuticriding), and she loves archery. Ryder also adores her family including her four dogs.

My sweet neighbor friends and I did a test run in the mud pie kitchen to see if the oven was too difficult to open and close, how ingredients held up, and whether chocolate rock cookies, dandelion cupcakes, and lavender soup taste as good as we imagined.

This was my one wedding this year: Dawson and Morgan Sedivec. I met Morgan a few years ago when I taught photojournalism at UJ. She then interned for me one summer, and we became friends. One of my favorite memories is a wedding where Morgan was my second shooter. It rained hard all day. Nothing went as planned. We looked like drowned rats, but we both just rolled with it. Alanis Morissette's got nothing on Morgan because, of course, it rained Friday while we were doing her wedding photos.

Dawson and Morgan have been dating since high school. They dated all through college, and now Dawson is in his last year of PT school and Morgan has just completed her master's degree. For a young couple, they have been together awhile. It showed. The day had such a relaxed feel to it. Dawson and Morgan made time in their day to spend a little time alone (that doesn't happen much). They relished the absurd happenings that always accompany a wedding day. They made an epic TikTokā€”and they enjoyed the people they chose to spend this important day with. One of my favorite things was that I got to know Dawson better, and I came away from the day realizing what a wise choice Morgan had made.
