After working in the aftermath of the flood and seeing firsthand what the water left behind, it was heavy on my heart to write.
But this isn’t a song.
A song just wouldn’t do.
Narrated by Ed ‘Prouler’ Ison, “The River” is a reflection of what we saw and experienced—the loss, the exhaustion, the heartbreak, and the people who showed up when their neighbors needed them most.
This is for the volunteers who gave their time and strength. To the first responders who stepped up in the darkest hours. To the families, friends, neighbors, churches, businesses, and communities who came together to help pick up the pieces.
But above all, this is dedicated to anyone who has ever had floodwater take away their home, their livelihood, their belongings, their memories, and all the pieces of a life they spent years building.
The water eventually goes down.
The cleanup eventually ends.
And the people who press forward to tomorrow,
This is for them.
