Stars, satellites, planes and Perseid meteors... Early morning, Aug 12 was our best opportunity to see Perseid meteors since it was clear. So I trekked up to the Elk Lake Lodge (with permission) and photographed the northeast sky from 2:36 AM to about 4:30 AM. It was a wonderful night as the loons called back and forth a few times. I added loons and peepers ambiance to the 40 second time lapse clip, but of course there were no spring peepers or toads singing a couple of nights ago. The planes and satellites are longer lasting streaks going across the whole sky, while an occasional shorter meteor streak will be more of a flash and last momentarily, much like being there in person. Enjoy!!

First light this morning near the Elk Lake Lodge... The stars were tracking across the sky above the High Peaks in this 7 minute dawn light exposure as the soft warm pastel colors of dawn glowed on the horizon and reflected on the lake water.
