For those married, what’s a photo from your wedding that is not of you, that sticks out in your mind?

When couples receive their wedding gallery, they usually look for photos of themselves first. Years later? Many tell me their favorite photos are the ones with family. Parent tearing up. A moment with a grandparent. A quiet hug that happened when no one was paying attention. These moments become more valuable with time.

Who is someone you absolutely want photographed at your wedding?

It’s moments like these that remind me of how much I love wedding days and how people just let loose and celebrate the occasion of the day. Weddings are full of moments you can plan for, but they’re also full of great moments like this! 😆

A big part of my job is paying attention to what’s happening beyond the obvious moment so I’m ready when something unfolds unexpectedly. Sometimes it’s an emotional reaction and sometimes it’s a hilarious dance floor moment that last half a second either way I’m always watching! 📸

Reunited with this family after 4 years and it felt like we never lost time. Even with the kiddos having had picture day at school before our session, they still had plenty of smiles left 🙂.

This is an easy thing to do, and I’ve made the mistake myself before, leading to nothing detrimental and fortunately I use cards with enough storage space but can be scary after you’ve shot a lot and still have a lot left to shoot and have half your cards already filled with a previous shoot’s worth of images…basically do yourself a favor and avoid this beforehand 😅!

Fall is right around the corner and that means one thing…family photo sessions (though any time of the year is a great time for photos!). I wanted to take a second to talk bout what you can expect during my sessions.

In a nutshell, I give up to 1.5 hours. This is much different than family mini-sessions. This time allows for your kids to warm up and get used to having me photograph them. Having 4 kids myself, I totally get that sometimes it takes a while for the little ones to be ready, and that sometimes they need to take a break, maybe have a snack, and definitely play and be kids. I highly encourage kids to be kids because this results in naturally fun photos of your family being truly as you are which gives you photos you’ll cherish!
