The We Defy Foundation provides combat military veterans coping with military-related disabilities a long term path to overcome challenges through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Congratulations to Professor Yan and Lorenza on five incredible years at GRPL Club. What you have built from the ground up is no small feat. Coming here without knowing the language, the people, or the environment, and turning a dream into reality brick by brick is something truly special.

You didn’t just build an academy, you built a family. A place where people come together, support one another, grow on and off the mats, and find a sense of belonging. The impact you have made on so many lives, including my own, reaches far beyond jiu-jitsu. You have created something truly special, and it shows in every person who walks through those doors.

I’m grateful to have been able to capture so many of your milestones and witness five years of memories, growth, and community.

During National Police Week, I’m especially grateful for the officers, staff, and families who make up my BLPD family.

Behind every badge is a human being who shows up day after day for their community with courage, compassion, and sacrifice. This week also serves as a reminder to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and the families who carry that loss forever.

It’s been an honor to document these moments, the big ones and the quiet ones, and to witness the heart behind the uniform. 💙
