Who says you can't do senior photos after you've already graduated? Sometimes life gets in the way of getting photos done during the school year, but there's no rule that says you can't still do them 😁 And boy did we get a gorgeous evening for Brayden's belated senior photos Friday - lovely cool moody clouds in the forest and then a spectacular sunset in the hills to cap off a beautiful day 🌅 Such a good time chatting with this guy about all things outdoorsy and watching him climb trees and traipse over steep hillsides without a second thought! Catching up with one of my favorite 2026 seniors for a cap and gown session, getting to meet her adorable pup (with matching grad gear), AND having absolutely perfect weather after THE most insane wind storm blew through town hours before? Yes on all counts! 🎓🐾☀️ I loved working with gorgeous Lacie again and getting a life update from her (valedictorian and off to U of I to become a vet! 🔥), and we were all so thankful that the day's crazy weather had moved out by evening, leaving just a few downed branches in its wake 😅 And special thanks to little doggie Honey for tolerating her graduation hat and not being TOO grumpy about getting dressed up 🙃 Congrats Lacie, here's a sneak peek from Thursday!

Why fear getting older when you can instead celebrate in style with balloons, cake, and confetti? 🥳🎂 I loved Yamile's vision of an in-studio 30th birthday shoot to commemorate the occasion, and her adorable pink dress worked perfectly with the backgrounds we decided on! Of course the balloons caused chaos (as numeric balloons do - why stay facing the correct way you can rotate every other direction? 😝) and I did some digital remastering to make the confetti idea work out, but I love the results 🩷 And special thanks to Studio Boise for staying open late for us when the balloon shop caused scheduling difficulties and we had to start late 🙏

The most perfect spring day with the most beautiful family 😊 The last time I saw these guys was 2.5 years ago when Boise had a foot of snow on the ground and we got to traipse around the Greenbelt in the most winter wonderland conditions the valley had seen in years, so not being in snow boots and puffy jackets this time was quite the difference 😄 I loved that they reused their fancy outfits they'd worn to a recent wedding (because if a photoshoot isn't an excuse to get fancy again, I don't know what is 😎) and was especially impressed with the girls' ability to navigate hiking trails in their heels 💪 And those gorgeous wildflowers - what a lovely evening. When your backyard is prettier than most parks 😍🌷 Kenadee and her mom had two requests for locations for her senior session: the "Tree of Life" at Veterans Memorial (which just happens to be my favorite tree in Boise, too!) and their very own gorgeous backyard! You can tell they put SO much work into the landscaping with attention to every detail, and I don't blame Kenadee one bit for wanting to take advantage of it 😊 Because why go to a generic location when your own house can give the best of them a run for the money? And it was such fun for me getting to shoot at a new place and puzzle out our best spots and angles on the fly, too! Giggly couples having the best time with each other are my favorite 😍 I love those magical serious fairytale moments too (especially with such amazing glowy light and fields of flowers!) but give me two people just laughing and cuddling and I know it's going to be a great session ❤️ Despite the windy day, Justin and Kayla nailed their session Saturday, and their outfits just popped against the vivid spring green! And you can totally tell they've known each other since high school with how comfortable and lighthearted they are together 😊 What a beautiful session - here's a sneak peek!

What a unique treat to have so many family members and generations all local and in one photo ❤️ Usually when folks get together for these generational photos, it's a unique occasion with different segments of the family visiting from different parts of the country, but these guys all live in the Treasure Valley and you can see their sweet bond 😊 And boy did we luck out with the perfect day: none of this 95 degrees, 40mph winds, or pouring rain nonsense, all of which we've encountered the last three weeks. Who needs a wind machine when you have springtime in Boise? 😜 The temperatures may be soaring right now but so were the gusts yesterday, making "interesting" conditions for gorgeous Cara's senior session...but on the plus side, you get that amazing romantic windswept meadow fairy look without even having to toss your hair yourself - you just may have to wait for the 35mph gusts to subside 😅 We made it work though and I was grateful for Cara's trust in the process and conditions...and the amazing sunshine we had through it all! Perfect spring evenings by the river 😍🌊 I talk a lot about all the weather issues we deal with especially in the spring, but every so often we luck out with a Goldilocks day - not too hot, not too cold, not even windy, perfect sunshine...what an absolute treat 😊 And what an absolute treat working with Jackson and his mom and girlfriend! I had only done one session on this gorgeous SE Boise section of the Greenbelt, but it's home turf for these guys and they were thrilled to be my tour guides to their favorite areas (with me constantly on high alert for the most photogenic spots, of course)! Jackson has such a genuine smile and was looking so confident and dapper after a few minutes that his girlfriend Sam called out "You don't even look like you play D&D!", which cracked all of us up. With love and respect for D&Ders ⚔️ What a fun group of people and awesome session - here's a sneak peek!

Graduation isn't always the only life milestone to commemorate! Even though Isaac graduating in a couple weeks and moving across the country for college was one of the reasons this sweet family scheduled a session together, the other is that they're planning on selling their house and wanted to get photos with their beautiful views before that point! And boy do I not blame them - those gorgeous foothills vistas right from their backyard were delightful, especially right at sunset with the glow on the Boise front 😍 So glad we got such a perfect evening for their shoot, and what a great way to mark a moment in time.
