Turquoise water, towering canyon walls, and a gorge you can explore with your dog! 🐾🇸🇮

Our fourth stop in Slovenia is Tolmin Gorge - a spectacular natural attraction tucked into the southern edge of Triglav National Park. If you’re exploring the Soča Valley and you love dramatic scenery, crystal-clear rivers, and scenic walks, this is a stop worth making!

📍 DON’T MISS:
🌉 Devil’s Bridge — a dramatic crossing high above the Tolminka River.
🪨 Bear’s Head — a massive boulder wedged between the canyon walls.
💧 The river confluence — where the Tolminka and Zadlaščica meet.

🐶 TRAVELING WITH YOUR DOG? Tolmin Gorge is dog-friendly! Keep your pup on a leash and be prepared for stairs and narrow, sometimes slippery paths.

🚗 WHERE TO PARK

🅿️ P1 — Closest to the entrance: Paid parking near the gorge entrance, with limited spaces. Even if the sign says the lot is full, it’s worth checking before heading elsewhere! Visitors are constantly coming and going, so a space may have just opened up.

🅿️ P2 — Free parking option: Located outside town toward Zatolmin, about a 15-minute walk from the entrance. A good choice if you prefer to park and walk.

🅿️ P3 — Another option: Located farther away, roughly a 30-minute walk from the gorge. Seasonal shuttle service may be available, so check current schedules before relying on it.

🥾 GOOD TO KNOW: The circular route is approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) and takes around 1.5 hours. Expect stairs and uneven sections, and wear shoes with good grip. Check opening hours and book tickets ahead during peak season.

A glacial lake, a mountain cable car, a hidden gorge, and a waterfall worth the climb. Welcome to Lake Bohinj, Slovenia! 🇸🇮⛰️

Just 30 minutes from Lake Bled, Bohinj is all about turquoise Alpine water, dramatic mountain views, and outdoor adventures.

🇸🇮 3 MUST-DO EXPERIENCES

💦 Savica Waterfall: An utterly stunning mountain waterfall reached by climbing approximately 550 steps. Wear comfortable shoes!

🚠 Vogel Cable Car: Ride up for sweeping views of Lake Bohinj and the Julian Alps—no strenuous hike required.

🌿 Mostnica Gorge: Follow a turquoise river past sculpted rock formations, wooden bridges, and the famous Little Elephant rock.

📍 DON’T MISS: Swim in the lake, rent a kayak or paddleboard, and photograph St. John the Baptist Church near the stone bridge at Ribčev Laz.

💡 INSIDER TIPS
🚗 For Mostnica Gorge, park in Stara Fužina at the designated Vorenčkojca car park (P8) or another signed village parking area. It’s a short walk to the gorge entrance.
🥾 Make a loop through the gorge for different views of Little Elephant Rock, or continue into Voje Valley for a longer hike.
🌤️ Check the weather and cable-car operating status before heading to Vogel—clear skies make all the difference!

Our Slovenia road trip continues with two stops you absolutely don’t want to miss—and the insider info you need to do them right. 🇸🇮⛰️

Our third stop in the Slovenia series takes us to Lake Bled + Vintgar Gorge—turquoise water, dramatic scenery, and two of Slovenia’s most iconic landscapes.

📍 LAKE BLED
Walk the 6-km lake loop, take a traditional pletna boat to Bled Island, visit Bled Castle, swim in summer, try Bled cream cake (kremšnita), or simply enjoy the lake and Julian Alps.

📸 BEST SPOTS FOR THE ICONIC BLED VIEW:
🥾 Ojstrica — the classic lake + island + castle view
🥾 Mala Osojnica — another incredible elevated perspective
🥾 Velika Osojnica — higher viewpoint with a different angle

📍 VINTGAR GORGE
A spectacular 1.6-km gorge carved by the Radovna River, with wooden walkways, towering cliffs, turquoise water, and Šum Waterfall.

⚠️ Know before you go: The gorge trail is ONE-WAY. You cannot turn around and walk back. After the waterfall, choose one of two return trails through the countryside. Allow at least 3 hours for the full experience.

🚗 Parking: A small number of spaces are available near the entrance, but they fill early. If full, use the designated parking area and shuttle

💡 INSIDER TIPS:
• Book your Vintgar time slot in advance—entry is limited.
• Only have time for one Bled viewpoint? Choose Ojstrica.
• Don’t rush Bled—walking the lakefront and enjoying the scenery is part of the experience.

This is the Slovenia you came for. 🇸🇮⛰️

Our second stop in this Slovenia series takes us into Solčava, where dramatic Alpine peaks, emerald-green valleys, waterfalls, traditional mountain farms, and some of Slovenia’s most scenic roads come together.

📍 LOGAR VALLEY (Logarska Dolina)
One of Slovenia’s most spectacular glacial valleys, surrounded by the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Drive through the valley, stop for those incredible mountain views, and make your way toward Rinka Waterfall, an impressive 90-meter waterfall at the head of the valley.

💧 Tip: Rinka Waterfall depends on rainfall and snowmelt, so after a prolonged dry spell, the waterfall can be completely dry—check recent conditions if seeing the falls is a priority. Ask us how we know 😢

📍 ROBANOV KOT
Just beyond Logar Valley is its quieter neighbor — a beautiful glacial valley surrounded by towering peaks, meadows, and traditional mountain farms.

⚠️ INSIDER TIP: The turnoff for Robanov Kot is easy to miss! From Logar Valley, head back toward Solčava and look carefully for the signed turnoff toward Robanov Kot.

📍 SOLČAVA PANORAMIC ROAD
One of the highlights of the region, this scenic route winds high above the valleys with sweeping views of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Logar Valley, Robanov Kot, and Matkov Kot.

🚗 There are two convenient ways to enter the route:
• From Solčava: Start in the village and follow the panoramic road toward Podolševa and the Church of the Holy Spirit, then continue toward Logar Valley.
• From Logar Valley: After exploring the valley, you can enter the panoramic route from the Logar Valley side and drive the scenic mountain road back toward Solčava.

From Alpine lakes and dramatic mountains to emerald rivers, charming towns, Adriatic coastline, and story-worthy landscapes, Slovenia packs an incredible variety into a surprisingly compact country. And where better to begin exploring it than Ljubljana, its vibrant and walkable capital?

Stroll through the Old Town, follow the Ljubljanica River, cross the iconic Dragon Bridge, explore Prešeren Square and Triple Bridge, browse Central Market, and head up to Ljubljana Castle for panoramic views over the city and surrounding Alps. 🏰🌿

🍸 Head to Nebotičnik for a drink with one of Ljubljana’s best city views.
🌅 Walk the Ljubljanica riverfront around golden hour when the city starts to glow.

And a drive that will have you pulling over every five minutes for another photo? Absolutely.

If Cape Town is on your list, these are the spots I wouldn’t skip:

🌊 V&A Waterfront — Start here for harbor views, great restaurants, shopping, and a lively atmosphere that makes an easy first stop in the city.

🎨 Bo-Kaap — Wander through the colorful streets and learn about the neighborhood’s rich Cape Malay history while grabbing plenty of photo-worthy shots.

🚗 Chapman’s Peak Drive — Buckle up for one of the most spectacular coastal drives anywhere, with cliffside curves and ocean views the entire way.

🌍 Cape of Good Hope — Head to the rugged tip of the Cape Peninsula for dramatic scenery, hiking trails, wildlife, and those famous coastal views.

🐧 Boulders Penguin Colony — Because yes, you can spend part of your Cape Town trip hanging out with African penguins on the beach.

⛰️ Table Mountain — Take the cable car or hike up for the views that make you realize Cape Town really did get a little carried away showing off.

The beautiful red rocks, stunning views, and multitude of hiking options make Sedona a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts. You don’t even have to hike to see some amazing views, but if you head out on one of hundreds of Sedona trails, you won’t be disappointed! Trails vary widely in length and difficultly so plan accordingly.

Before we share the details, be sure to follow for more beautiful destinations and helpful tips!

Our recommendations:
🥾 Start at the Mescal Trailhead for your Devil’s Bridge hike to get the iconic, Instagram-worthy pic of Devil’s Bridge. START EARLY!! Hiking is very popular in Sedona, and parking lots fill up quickly!

You will likely have to wait for your turn to have the bridge to yourself for your photo. The later you get there, the longer the line.

🚘 Drive around! There are so many eye-catching, grab-your-phone views.

🌧️ If you planned a lot of outdoor activities and the weather isn’t cooperating, head to the nearby town of Cottonwood and do some w**e tasting. Or just stroll around the cute downtown area.

☀️ While Sedona can be enjoyed year round, winter months are less crowded. And as you can see from the last photo, it does get snow, but it doesn’t last long and adds another layer of beauty to the red rocks.

✈️ Closest airport is Flagstaff, but flights to Phoenix might be cheaper and have more arrival/departure options.
