A glimmer from Kathleen & Nick’s wedding day ✨
It was before the ceremony, and we had just finished bridesmaid photos & portraits for Kathleen when she was headed toward the shuttle. Her dad arrived as she walked away from me. Although his face is obscured by bokeh, you can see that he’s greeting her with a warm, excited smile. At that moment the wind filled her dress and billowed her veil, and I clicked my shutter.
It wasn’t until I got the film scan back that I really felt the impact of this image. The wind in her dress feels like the excited energy of her dad’s love radiating toward her. We can’t see Kathleen’s face, and her dad’s is quite blurred, but you know for a fact that they’re both beaming with joy 🌟
& that was the energy that carried through the rest of Kathleen & Nick’s wedding day. Somehow this one photo - this one small unplanned moment - holds so much of their story in a single moment. And the fact that this very real, yet fleeting second was exposed onto film and then hand developed makes the magic even more rich 💫
While I might not describe myself as a religious person, my work always has been and always will be a spiritual practice for me. Having the privilege to capture your stories through wedding and family photography is more than just a passion. It’s an opportunity to observe and create holy moments that punctuate your family’s story and define your legacy.
Of course.. it is the most fun job in the whole world. It’s true. But it’s not something that I take lightly. It truly is the greatest honor to bear witness to and capture your family’s legacy with heart and integrity ♥️
