Let me tell you a little about myself and my photography. I am Stephanie Elise, photographer, business owner, wife, and mother to an adorable Shih Tzu. I have a strong passion for photography and the work I create. I am told that my determination and power to succeed makes me good at what I do, but I also think my creative spirit and my love for what a photograph can do allows me to create and capture timeless memories for anyone who steps in front of my camera.

10 years behind the camera... and I still absolutely love it.

With some new headshots and a lot of new faces around here, I thought it was the perfect time to reintroduce myself.

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the creative force behind Stephanie Elise Photography!

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up going to work with my Dad at Motophoto (anyone remember these photography studios?!) and was exposed to all things photography from a young age. My 8th grade science fair project was even a comparison between film and digital at the cusp of the revolution. What started as something I loved, eventually became the career I’ve been lucky enough to call mine for the last 10 years.

I specialize in capturing some of life’s biggest milestones, from those tiny newborn days through baby’s first year to seniors getting ready for their next big adventure.

I love finding the beauty, light, personality, and fun in the chaos that comes life in front of the camera. While your session may feel like a total disaster, I can promise you that you will find joy and laughter in the photos I create for you.

I’m always learning, growing, and finding new ways to give you all the very best experience and photos. Because honestly? This has never just been about running a business or the numbers for me. It’s about the people in front of my camera and creating photographs that might become some of the most important images someone ever owns. Photos that will be looked back on, loved, and cherished for years and generations to come.

I truly love what I do, and I’m so thankful that I get to do it. So whether you’ve been here from the beginning or you’re brand new, I’m so glad you’re here!

My absolute favorite thing about getting to photograph multiple babies in a family is how much time I spend staring at these brand new faces and finding all the features that are the same as their older siblings. I love walking in to meet the newest family member and immediately saying, yep that is a (insert last name here) baby! This little one looks so much like his brother and sisters it sent me right back to their newborn sessions. There are an infinite combination of genes, traits, DNA in the world but it is amazing to me that just 2 people can come together, build a family, and let the world know by a few facial features that these babies are theirs.

I am reminded during every newborn session how each little baby, each little life in front of my camera is a gift and a miracle that not everyone is lucky enough to enjoy and experience, and I get to preserve an incredible part of this magical time for my clients and their families. My hope is that these photos will be displayed for many years and each time a Mom or Dad or grandparent looks at how beautiful and precious their babies were, they are reminded of this amazing gift they were given and cherish that feeling forever.

The light and color radiating during this session was a testament to Lucy and definitely not indicative of what Dayton weather has been the last few weeks. We have have had days of storms, flooding, road damage, and super random torrential downpours. Storms were even still in the forecast at the time of this session but the sun shone through and made for a perfect night for a beautiful senior session. I was blown away that Lucy is a 5 sport athlete and has major dreams post-graduation. Sending lots of sunshine-y vibes to all seniors this school year as they close one chapter and start writing a brand new one!

Back to school looks a little different when you’re celebrating both seniors and a brand-new kindergartener!
This time of year is always filled with excitement, but this year feels extra special. I ended my summer hanging out with some incredible seniors and capturing just a small moment of excitement for the year to come. And today I sent my little girl off for her first day of kindergarten 🥹 From those first little preschool days to putting on her backpack and heading off to kindergarten, I just want to slow time down and soak it all in.
One end of the journey and one brand-new beginning, all happening at the same time. So many emotions, so many milestones, and so much to be proud of.
Here’s to a school year full of new friendships, big dreams, unforgettable memories, and plenty of growth. Wishing all of our seniors an amazing final year and my little kindergartener the most magical first year of school! 🍎
How lucky we are to witness all of these seasons at once. ❤️

This bright eyed, beautiful boy did not want to wait to meet his Mom and Dad, born at 32 weeks he was ready to see the world! After meeting his Mom and Dad, I don’t blame him! The love that flooded throughout this session was immeasurable and this sweet boy chose the best family, big brother pups included. What made this session even more amazing was the fact that during the The Collective retreat, I got to watch one of the best newborn photographers in the world photograph a newborn so my skills were fresh and my inspiration blossomed. This little boy could not have come at a better time for these photos, although Mom may have wanted him to hang in a little longer. Silver lining: she gained 2 more months with this amazing little boy.

I told you that you would be seeing a lot more from the Collective Retreat last weekend! These are just some of the moments of learning, growing, and just having fun surrounded by my kind of people! Newborn session, family session, and headshots with some laughs thrown in between 😊📷 what’s truly unbelievable is that River grew 25 ft in a week because of rainfall 😳
