Model Car Garage, Inc. The Model Car Garage The Model Car Garage is owned and operated by Robert Korunow of Avon Park, Florida. His efforts paid off in many ways.

An avid modeler since he was a kid in Westfield, N.J., Bob credits longtime modeling master Augie Hiscano of Miami for mentoring him to that higher level of the craft where even the tiniest details become crucial. Wanting to put his skills to the test, in the early 90's Bob decided to build up a Plymouth Satellite, a favorite muscle car of his youth. During the year and a half it took to build the

model, an interesting thing happened. Many of the intricate details Bob needed for his model simply did not exist, so they had to be fabricated or machined from scratch. For example, in order to create the pulleys for the engine, Bob purchased a small lathe. Hearing of this, his friends were soon asking for sets of their own. Soon there were other requests and more parts that would not fit his requirements. Fan belts, steering columns, trim pieces, disc brakes, they all had to be built from scratch. By the time the Satellite was approaching completion it was a full-blown test bed for dozens of different pieces. In addition to winning Best Street Machine and Best Paint Job at the 1993 Great Salt Lake Model Car Championship with the Satellite, Bob was getting so many requests for his aftermarket pieces that he was able to quit his day job and devote himself full time to The Model Car Garage. Today, The Model Car Garage offers more then 400 different items, from photo-etched detail sets to flocking to machined aluminum parts plus so much more!!!.

The Datsun 240Z: The 1970s Sports Car That Deserved More Attention ⬇️
While buyers were flocking to Mustangs and Porsches, Nissan—using the Datsun name in the U.S.—quietly introduced the 240Z in 1970. It combined striking design, genuine performance, and everyday usability in one beautifully balanced package.
Under its long hood sat a 2.4-liter inline-six producing 151 horsepower—comparable to the output of a much larger 1970s Ford Mustang. But the 240Z’s appeal went far beyond its engine.
Its styling borrowed subtle cues from automotive icons: Porsche-inspired headlights, a Corvette-like profile, and a long bonnet reminiscent of the Jaguar E-Type. Yet the 240Z wasn’t merely imitating the greats—it carved out an identity of its own.
Today, finding one can be a challenge. A project car may cost $2,000–$5,000, while a well-preserved example can reach $70,000. A solid driver typically falls somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000, depending on condition and originality.
Just remember: rust is the 240Z’s biggest enemy, so inspect the floors, frame rails, rocker panels, and wheel arches carefully.

🏁 26 August 1967

On this day, Burt Munro recorded an average speed of 184.087 mph (296.259 km/h) at the Bonneville Salt Flats, setting a world record in the Class S-A 1000cc category aboard his modified 1920 Indian Scout.

It was the achievement of a lifelong pursuit and a moment that would forever connect Southland with the world of motorcycle racing.

Each year on 26 August, riders and motorsport fans pause to remember the day Burt's name was etched into the record books, not simply for the speed he achieved, but for what the achievement represents: the pursuit of a goal, no matter how ambitious.

As we mark this historic anniversary, we also look ahead to another milestone. In February 2027, the Burt Munro Challenge celebrates 20 years, bringing together the people, motorcycles, and stories that continue to keep Burt's legacy alive.
