July is always such a weird month for me as a wedding photographer. My shooting tends to wrap up in mid June, then it's mostly just editing work through July. Editing is fine and all, but the chaos of actually taking photos is what lights my fire. This year, my July energy has been directed at making sourdough (my waistline does not appreciate this), making pressed flower/resin art, and trying to figure out how to style my hair with my natural curl. But damn, I'm ready to take some pretty pictures again.

And just another gripe about social media as a business owner lately... the collaboration feature makes it difficult to write anything personal. If I invite vendors to collaborate on a post, they're understandably not going to want me bitching about July on *their* feed. So I have to keep things really generic for any fresh content. Does anyone else feel like this?

I LOVE when I have tons of time to play with all of your pretty things! It's so so relaxing to play with flowers and organize things in a way that looks photogenic. I recently updated my detail tackle box with little trays and ring boxes that I made myself, and I'm loving that I get to inject a personal touch into my flat lays. Also, a moment for these florals? I took some home to add to my pressing collection (and make a little gifty for Courtney and Dru)

Y'all y'all Y'ALL. I have been simply dying to share some of Katie's bridals with you. Since this lady is MARRIED now, I can finally do that. I love bridal sessions because we get to play around with poses that we probably won't have time to do on the wedding day, and just have fun relaxed girl time. I don't get to do that many of them each year, so it's always a special treat for me ◡̈.

I turned FORTY yesterday and I had some feelings about it. So much happened in my thirties. I got married, had two kids, got divorced, started in the wedding industry, got a puppy, got engaged, covid bu****it, lived in Austin and dfw and cedar park and Georgetown and pflugerville and now bastrop… it was a big chapter in my life, but I look forward to a slower decade as I’ve honed in on the things that really matter to me. I wonder what this new era will bring me.
