GUY WIRES — The Hazard You May Never See Coming
Towers are easy to spot.
Their guy wires are not.

Guy wires can extend up to ~1,500 ft from a tower and become nearly invisible — especially in dusk, haze, or reduced visibility. Many pilots never see the danger until they’re already inside it.

⚠️ Key Safety Points
• Hard to see: Even in daylight, wires blend into the background
• Nearly invisible at dusk: Reduced light makes them disappear
• Hazard extends far beyond the tower: Wires may reach ~1,500 ft
• Maintain distance: Stay at least 2,000 ft horizontally away

DJI Wins Partial Victory in U.S. Appeals Court

A significant development in DJI’s ongoing legal challenge to its designation as a “Chinese Military Company” has occurred.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit partially reversed a lower court’s decision upholding DJI’s designation and sent the case back to the district court for further review.

The key issue involves the government’s claim that DJI contributes to China’s defense industrial base. The appeals court found that the district court relied on the unclassified record without reviewing the classified evidence supporting that particular conclusion.

However, this is not a removal of DJI from the Pentagon’s list. The appeals court rejected three of DJI’s other arguments, and DJI remains on the list while the case returns to the district court.

For drone operators, public safety agencies, and businesses using DJI technology, this is an important case to watch. The outcome could have significant implications for DJI’s future in the U.S. market.
