Come take a tour through Brooke and Luben’s wedding day as I show you some of the not-so-obvious photo moments I always look for. Some are completely unscripted and candid, and some are gently guided - but all for the purpose of delivering a wedding gallery that tells the whole story, from multiple perspectives, with artistry and heart.

1. Reflection shots - I love using mirrors or other reflective surfaces to create depth and multi-layer dimension to an image

2. I look for ways to capture the couple with the venue / location that they were married in - the place is a character in the story, too!

3. I love capturing unposed reactions to loved ones seeing the couple in their wedding day attire!

4. I look for opportunities to create portraits from really far away AND really up close

5. Hands… I’m obsessed. The intimacy of hands intertwined will always draw my attention.

6. When guests arrive, I mill around and capture candids of them greeting each other and socializing before the ceremony begins

7. I love a good wide angle of the ceremony in action

8. After I capture the first kiss / pronouncement moment, I quickly spin around and grab a few shots of all the happy faces cheering on your union!

9. In between posed family portraits, I’m always looking for hugs and candid moments between loved ones

10. I love inviting couples into moments of playful, fun connection that result in energetic portraits

11. …but I also love guiding them into moments of calm and stillness for beautiful, timeless portraits

12. I look for creative ways to document the food and beverages selections - so quickly devoured and forgotten, but a crucial part of the guest experience

13. Throughout the day, I look for opportunities to capture from the couple’s perspective — what your memories actually look like to you.

In case you need it, let this post be your permission to skip the newborn session and book photos when your baby is three months old 🤍 Although I loveeee the squishy newborn stage and it’s so special to document, I totally understand that some parents prefer to wait for a professional session until their baby is more alert and expressive (and everyone is getting more sleep!)
