Dusk. The light at dusk is so underrated.

Out here in the desert, the 30-45 minutes after the sun ducks below the horizon is something special, like all the warmth and energy of the day that has soaked into the earth is reflected back out for one last dance

Somewhere like Nelson Ghost Town is magical at dusk. It’s silent, and those last epic sun bursts and long shadows change into a gorgeous blanket of even, flattering and atmospheric light.

Joanna and Piotr travelled all the way from Poland and were reaching the end of a cross country roadtrip, and we wanted to capture this amazing dusty Americana vibe for their wedding photographs.

They look like they were destined to be married here, look at them. And look at that dress!! Those sleeves…

Buddy. What a good dog. Rest in peace little dude.

I’m asked so many times “should we bring our pup along for our engagement / family shoot / wedding?”

And my answer is always YES!

Rules permitting of course, but unless you absolutely know that your doggo will take every ounce of your attention, I think we NEED them in at least some of your pictures. They’re family after all.

In addition to being a v good boy, buddy was a v photogenic boy and it was a no brainer to include him in Lindsey & Jim’s pictures. He stole the show, obviously.

From our two part engagement shoot in the PNW - a Kinfolk inspired Farmer’s Market forage and home cooking extravaganza, and a wild adventure along the rugged Oregon Coast - to their magical wedding in Charleston, SC, Buddy was the star.

It is always humbling and so rewarding to know I’ve captured some the photos that my clients and friends treasure when they lose a friend or family member, both doggo or hooman, it’s what keeps me doing what I do.

Family photos that show what your Family looks and FEELS like…?

That’s what Tara wanted.

The street art in the Arts District looks stunning but this epic shoot was all about the people.

Her husband was about to be deployed overseas for a year and she wanted photos that captured the whole family and each individual kiddo’s personality.

My “A Moment In Time” Family Session is all about that. It’s my take on the ‘traditional’ Family Photoshoot - but we really hone in on connection, feelings and personalities.

And through it all, you just have to be yourselves. That’s what you want photos of, after all!

Tara was curious what everyone should wear and after discussing the photos she was dreaming of, I recommended we let each kid choose so they felt like themselves and were comfortable for the shoot. No matching outfits here!

Everyone had permission to just do ‘them’, not to just pose and smile the exact same way, and the result is photos that LOOK and FEEL like the humans you love with all your heart.

Years ago, when I started taking Senior Photos in addition to my usual Wedding and Family work, I must’ve known that one day my little nieces would be old enough to graduate high school…

… but it still blows my mind that Natalie is off to USC and I got to do this shoot for her!!

I’ve loved this girl since the moment she was born and I’m so impressed at the incredible young woman she has become.

For the photos we decided to keep it simple, and celebrate the beach and coastline that she’s grown up next to in the OC. And we flew some Trojan colours of course.

Bucket list photoshoot #1 done, next up lil sis in a couple of years…

Andressa and Wagner were definitely hunks of burning love!! 🔥💃🕺🏻

Alongside a whole host of Family and Friends all the way from Brasil, we had an absolute blast surrounded by so much sunshine, love and Elvis tunes!!!

Okay, now this one was special.

You can see that from the photos obviously, two beautiful souls in a stunning landscape moments after they became husband and wife!

What you can’t see in these pics, is the amazing friends and family who came to celebrate them!

So many lovely humans, from across the US and Argentina, I had a blast sharing this afternoon with them. I think say sprinkled even more magic into this glorious location….

Actually if you look with your heart as well as your eyes, maybe you’ll feel their love pouring out of those rocks behind Fiama and Matt. ✨🥰✨
