I had a conversation with a senior mom this week that reminded me of something a lot of parents don't realize.

If your school requires a specific photographer for the yearbook photo, that does not mean all of your senior pictures have to be taken there.

The yearbook photo is required for the yearbook. Everything else? You have OPTIONS.

And honestly, it's certainly easier to get everything done in one place when you're already there for the required photo. But easier isn't always better.

When choosing a newborn photographer, wedding photographer, or family photographer, most people look for the photographer whose style, experience, and personality are the best fit for them.

Senior portraits are no different.

That's why senior portraits have always been the heart of my business. I spend time getting to know my seniors before their session. Their sport, their passions, their pets, their favorite places, and the things that make them who they are.

The goal isn't just a nice picture. It's about an experience they'll never forget and images that capture who they are at this moment in their lives. Images their family will look back on and say, "That was so them."

I spent some time looking through old photos recently and found little pieces of a childhood that somehow flew by.

The little girl who loved fashion and dressing up.

The soccer player we literally had to drag onto the field for her first practice who somehow grew into a captain. The kid who always had her tongue out when she played... and somehow still does. 😆

Somewhere between dress-up clothes and oversized hoodies, endless car rides, tournaments, team dinners, and learning what it means to be a leader, the years disappeared. And somehow, in what feels like the blink of an eye, she's about to be a senior.

I've been helping families document these milestones for years. Now I'm the mama of a rising senior.

Watching Marley grow up has reminded me that senior year isn't only about graduation. It's about the journey. The friendships. The passions. The victories. The disappointments. Everything in between that got them here. Those are the moments that shape them.

That's a big part of the inspiration behind my Class of 2027 Senior Portrait Experience.

This one was special. My nephew in my little hometown. On land his grandparents own…land that will be his one day.
