There are some stories I’m trusted to photograph that stay with me long after I put my camera down, and this was one of them. She gathered her people around her, the ones who love her and are walking beside her, and turned the day she shaved her head into something filled with laughter, courage, and so much love. One by one, her family joined her and shaved their heads too, a simple but incredibly powerful way of saying, you are not walking through this alone. Having watched people in my own family battle cancer, I know how deeply moments like this can matter, so being invited into this one and trusted to preserve it was an honor I don’t take lightly.

Looking through this gallery, I kept thinking about how family doesn’t always mean blood. Family is the people who choose to walk beside you through every season. The beautiful ones, the hard ones, the celebrations, and the seasons you never imagined you would have to face. They are the people who show up, and on this day, they showed up in the biggest way.

These photographs tell the story of the day she shaved her head, but they also tell the story of everyone who sat in that chair beside her and did the same. The laughter, the hugs, the tears, the clippers, and so much love. What an incredible thing it is to be loved like that. 🤍

Becoming parents is never just about a positive test. It’s about every dream, every conversation, every ounce of love that existed long before a baby ever did.

What an honor it was to document this season…where hope gives way to joy, and long-awaited prayers become the beginning of a new story.

These are the moments that become family history.

Your home is where your story already lives.

It’s the hallway they’ve raced down a hundred times. The bed where you read stories before nap time. The doorway where they greet you every morning. The rainy afternoons spent lining up Marshall and Zuma on the windowsill while they watch the world outside.

These moments may seem insignificant while you’re living them, but they’re the details that become part of your family’s history.

That’s why I love in-home sessions.

Not because your home needs to be perfect, but because it’s yours. Years from now, you’ll notice the paint color, the way the light fell through the window, the Paw Patrol phase they swore they’d never outgrow, and all the little routines that made this season of life what it was.

Anyone can rent a studio.

But no one else has your home, your traditions, or your memories. The beauty isn’t in creating a perfect moment. It’s in preserving the life you’re already living.

Through my process, one thing I’m really passionate about is being hands-on with my clients. I want to truly know you before you ever step in front of my camera. Because how can you claim to capture someone authentically if you don’t actually know them?

While planning this session, I found out Amanda and her little miss absolutely love bird watching together. Which honestly felt perfect… because I’m a crazy bird lady myself. I immediately knew exactly where we needed to go. There’s a tree at this location that’s always filled with birds, and I knew it would fit them so naturally.

Nothing here felt forced. No stiff posing. No “say cheese.” Just them doing something they genuinely love together.

And I think that’s what makes this gallery feel different. Their connection wasn’t created for the photos. It already existed. I just documented it.

We got married in our backyard at sunset, surrounded by the life we’ve been building together. Our garden, the fruit trees we planted, the wildflowers that somehow bloomed at exactly the right time.

Two hours before the ceremony it was raining sideways, and honestly… I didn’t care. We had umbrellas ready and were prepared to say our vows in the storm. But right before sunset hour, the sky opened and everything turned golden.

For two months we let the grass grow wild hoping flowers would come up. We carved a path through them, lined it with lanterns and candles, and promised each other forever.

No venue. No pressure.
Just home. Just us.

Kids are so selfless. They are always giving.

When a child hands you a flower, a rock, a leaf… they are quite literally giving you everything they have in that moment.

No posing. No prompting. Just little boys naturally finding their way back to mom, wanting to share their tiny treasures with her.

Sometimes the most meaningful stories unfold all on their own right in front of your lens. 🤍
