David Hood Photography I enjoy digital photography and editing, and one-on-one tutoring. Please see my website. We have two grown sons, 6 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Retired military veteran turned Photographer and Tutor pursuing my passion for Capturing the Wonders Found in Travel and Life. My dear wife Barbara and I were married in 1967 and live in Albuquerque, NM. Our life centers around our extended family. Following my retirement, I entered the world of digital photography and since 2015 have been self-employed as a professional photographer and loving every minute of it! I enjoy getting to see new places, meeting new people, and studying my craft to strive for continuous improvement. I particularly enjoy sharing my passion for digital photography with others and do so by sharing my art and offering personal camera and Photoshop training to photographers in my area. Ansel Adams used his considerable skills to capture photographs but transformed his photographs into works of art by shaping the gamut of light in the darkroom. In today’s digital world our shaping of light and color is accomplished with post processing software such as Photoshop. I hope that you enjoy my work.

Genuine question for my followers: what's the one thing you'd tell someone buying directly from an artist? If you've never bought directly from an artist before, what questions do you have?

Take a look at "Winter on Mendon Pond" as my art feature today, and let me know your thoughts and questions.

I created this new art offering Milky Way Sky Over Cabin as the kind of image that slows you down. At first glance it’s simply a low-slung log cabin with two warm windows, a sweep of dark land and distant mountains, and above it all a wide, luminous band of stars and Milky Way glow. But the quiet beauty holds moreβ€”an invitation to breathe, and to reflect how small and humbled and yet at once how safe we can feel beneath the universe.

There’s a story hinted at here: someone inside the cabin, a late-night reader, a lone stargazer, or perhaps an empty shelter holding the memory of past lives. The artwork doesn’t tell the full tale; it leaves room for the viewer’s imagination to step in. That ambiguity makes it excellent for living spaces where it can become a mirror for personal reflection.

Whether you bring it into your home to calm a room or to spark quiet evenings of thought, this piece becomes both a window and a doorway.

πŸ’‘ Practical design tip: Lighting changes everything about how art reads in a room.

Natural light shifts color temperature throughout the day, and most lamps cast warmer or cooler tones than you'd expect.

When you grab "Happy 250th Birthday USA 16x9", spend some time thinking about the lighting to accompany it.

What type of lighting do you think would work best?
