Praying for everyone in Nepal right now, especially the families still waiting for answers.
Among them is a family in North Texas.
Archana Suresh and her husband, Raghu Rajan, of Murphy, Texas, spent more than a year preparing for a pilgrimage they had dreamed about.
Then, somewhere near the Nepal-China border, their phones went silent.
The couple traveled thousands of miles to make a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, a sacred, snow-covered peak in Tibet. They trained for the journey, worked on their endurance and prepared for the difficult terrain.
They were also nearing their 25th wedding anniversary.
Back home, their two children are in college.
The couple made it to Kathmandu and continued toward the border. Then came one last photo.
Archana and Raghu sent their family a picture surrounded by mountains. It would become the last image their loved ones received from them.
On August 26, devastating flooding and a glacial collapse tore through the region, destroying roads, bridges and communities.
Their phones were last detected near the Friendship Bridge, an area later heavily damaged by the flooding.
Since then, there has been no confirmed contact.
Their family is holding onto hope that Archana and Raghu were able to reach higher ground before the flooding hit.
For one North Texas family, this disaster comes down to two names.
