One of my favourite spots for nasi lemak in Singapore! 🇸🇬🍚

The Coconut Club The Coconut Club never disappoints — the nasi lemak rice is fragrant, rich and full of coconut goodness. 🥥

The chicken is deep-fried until crispy on the outside, while the rempah is packed with flavour and gives the chicken that extra kick. 🍗🔥

Stepped into Bouillon Gavroche and felt like I was transported to a cosy Parisian dining hall right in Orchard Road 🇫🇷

As Asia’s first traditional Parisian Bouillon, the restaurant serves up classic French comfort dishes in a warm and lively space inspired by the bustling bouillons of 19th-century Paris.

We started with the Œufs Mimosa ($6++), simple yet comforting with hard-boiled eggs and fresh herb mayonnaise, before moving on to the Camembert Pané ($14++), which I really enjoyed for its golden crisp exterior and melty cheese centre. The Salade d’Endives ($10++) was also a refreshing addition with its nice balance of bitterness, crunch and freshness from the walnuts and green apple.

For mains, the Parmentier de Canard ($22++) was comforting and hearty, almost like a French-style shepherd’s pie packed with rich shredded duck confit and creamy crushed potatoes. The Bœuf Bourguignon with Coquillettes ($26++) was another standout for me — tender beef slow-cooked in red wine with elbow pasta soaking up all that rich flavourful sauce. If you prefer something lighter, the Ravioles de Royan aux Épinards ($16++) with creamy spinach and cheese ravioli was smooth, comforting and easy to enjoy.

Ending on a sweet note, the Profiterole ($10++) came with vanilla soft serve and warm chocolate sauce that felt indulgent without being too heavy, while the Tarte Fine aux Pommes ($8++) had a light crisp pastry base with delicate apple slices for a more classic French finish.

Definitely a nice casual spot for comforting French classics and affordable French wines right along Orchard Road.

🍽️ **A Four-Hands Cantonese Collaboration for Two Nights Only**

I had the chance to experience Rooted in Legacy at Madame Fan Madame Fan, where Executive Chinese Chef Pak Chee Yit cheeyit teams up with his earliest culinary inspiration, award-winning Guest Chef Sam Leong, for a special six-course dinner.

We started with Chef Sam's **Caviar, Sea Urchin, Jamón Ibérico and Warm Organic Egg White Soufflé**, served with a comforting mushroom broth. Next came one of Chef Pak's highlights, the **New Zealand Wild Black Gold Abalone stuffed with bamboo pith**, paired with a rich chicken essence that was light yet full of flavour.

The **Chilean Seabass with baked aubergine and fish bone reduction sauce** was beautifully cooked, followed by the **Charcoal Grilled Hanwoo Beef with Cantonese pickled vegetables**, which offered a nice balance of smoky and tangy flavours.

One of the more unique dishes was the **Pearl Barley Porridge with Flower Crab Meat and Hokkaido Dried Scallops**. It was comforting, hearty, and packed with seafood goodness. To end the meal, the **Royal Pumpkin Bird's Nest Crème Brûlée** was smooth and lightly sweet.

As a little surprise, the dinner also includes **two off-menu creations** that are kept under wraps until they arrive at your table, making the experience even more memorable.

If you are planning a visit to The Feather Blade The Feather Blade this month, don't miss their August special – the Coffee Beef Burger ($26).

The juicy 200g feather blade beef patty is deep-fried in beef fat for extra flavour, while the foie gras, pickled onions and signature coffee sauce add a unique coffee-inspired twist. It's an interesting combination that comes together surprisingly well.
