Hi Albert. Hope you are well. We had a solar eclipse in Spain today and I would like to share a couple of photos I took. The last one happened in 1905 but today marks the first of a trilogy. Next one is 2027 and another in 2028. Please feel free to post in the FB group if you wish.
Thanks, Albert…..I used a Canon R5 Mark II with an RF400 f/2.8 lens (1/320, f/3.2, ISO 100).. 👍👍

This Friday evening the 24th of July 2026, a team of 9 from TASOS comprising TASOS committee and members supported Science Centre’s Observatory session. The turnout today was smaller than normal and the sky was quite good and so many had the opportunity also to see a beautiful quarter Moon with great detail. Many craters were visible. TASOS members setup and manned 3 portable telescopes beside the small observatory and assisted with the observatory and astronomy story telling on the ground. Everyone had a really wonderful time tonight. See photos of this activity posted here to share.. 👍🙏🏻🙏🏻

On Friday 17th July 2026, Venus is at 1 o’clock position near to the Crescent Moon. I took the images from left above the Astro Scientific Centre signboard from the Kinetic Garden of the Science Centre and the next photo going clockwise. President Soh KM took the next with the KidsStop sign while TASOS member Tan Bee Ping took the last photo with top of buildings. Nice .. 👍🙏🏻🙏🏻

Last Friday 26th Jun 2026, a dozen TASOS committee and members set up numerous telescopes and help manned the big Observatory in support of Science Centre’s Observatory session. There were about 140 participants and although scattered clouds were present throughout, there were pockets of clear skies in between to show participants many Objects including the planets Mercury and Jupiter earlier in the night before they set as well as bright planet Venus and the Moon. TASOS President Soh KM also showed deep sky objects such as M6 and M7 at the tail of Scorpious. TASOS VP Dr Raymond setup an smartphone EAI which allowed many users to see and captured a nice view of Moon visually and through their smartphones and many were thrilled. TASOS member Sebastian had a tracking Celestron 130 SLT which entertained many on the Jewel Box, Crux and Jupiter etc throughout the night. TASOS Hon Treasurer MooEy and Hon Secretary also worked with Jhy Harng to refine the tracking and astrophoto techniques on Celestron AVX mount with ASI hardware software to polar align, goto, focus and capture a spectacular image of Whirlpool Galaxy M51 from our bright Bortle 8 site. I took a lot of images to share here including those in the small 3m and big 5.5m dome Observatory. TASOS members Joseph Beh and Edison Tong (who will be heading out to Cambridge University later part of 2026) helped man the big telescope. TASOS member Jeff also setup a ZWO S30 on site.
Overall it was a highly successful session and everyone enjoyed the experience and had a great evening. See photos posted here to share and hope you all like them 🙏🏻
