In today’s automotive landscape, drivers are spoilt for choice. From hybrids and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) to fully electric vehicles (EVs), there’s a car for almost every lifestyle and budget.

One brand that’s becoming increasingly familiar on our roads is Jaecoo. Following the launch of the distinctive J6, which combines retro-inspired styling with a futuristic design, Jaecoo also introduced the J7, featuring a rugged, boxy design reminiscent of the Range Rovers.

Now, the Jaecoo J8 becomes the third model to join the brand’s local lineup, offering a midsize SUV that promises greater space, practicality, and versatility.

Launched in Singapore in May 2026, the Jaecoo J8 is available in a single variant, powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Better yet, it comes with three rows of seating, making it a practical seven-seater for larger families or those who simply need the extra space.

Powering its electric side is a 34.6kWh battery pack, giving the J8 a claimed all-electric driving range of up to 134km. For many drivers, that means most daily commutes can be completed using electric power alone, without consuming a drop of petrol.

Priced at S$244,999.00, the Jaecoo J8 PHEV isn’t just about space and practicality, it also packs some impressive performance.

Under the bonnet sits a 1,499cc turbocharged inline four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a powerful plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) system and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) drivetrain.

The petrol engine produces 105kW (141bhp), while the electric motor contributes up to 340kW (456bhp). Together, the system delivers a combined output of 315kW (422bhp) and 580Nm of torque, enabling the J8 to sprint from 0–100km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

For a seven-seater SUV, those are impressive figures, delivering a compelling balance of performance, practicality, and efficiency. Whether it’s tackling the daily commute on electric power or heading out on a weekend road trip with the whole family, the Jaecoo J8 is designed to do both with ease.

Climbing out for a test flight (and still is flying as of this current timing at 1156hrs 13/07/2026) on this bright and sunny Monday morning! Here’s to another new week!

As some of you or rather all you aviation enthusiasts know, VH-EBL is the only A330-203 aircraft that has the Pride Is In The Air livery. However, as I noticed while photographing the aircraft climbing out, the livery has been removed and replaced back to the original black wordings.
