A kind of interesting shot here taken just over 10 years ago (April 2016). Story of a trip, so to speak. This is Lindisfarne Castle in the North-East of England…
I had set off in a hire car in the very (very 🥱) early morning from Scotland, to capture the sunrise over the 16th century castle. It didn’t really work out due to there not being a lot of cloud in the sky for the sunrise and the boats bobbing about all over the place in the time-lapse, made for rather disconcerting viewing. 🤮
And, as it dawned on me at the time (excuse pun), with my main camera doing the time-lapse, I only had my ‘old’ phone to take any pictures. This is one of those pictures (which, ironically, turned out better than the time-lapse 🤪).
Lindisfarne, or Holy Island, is quite famous in itself as it is the site of the first ever Viking raid, in 793, on what would become the UK. This was long before the castle that you see here was built but still a very photographic place. Being on an island you can only get to it twice a day on a causeway that gets flooded during high tides.
