🐦 Bird Photography Workshop | Shakespear Regional Park

📅 Saturday, 14 November 2026
⏰ 8:30 am – 10:30 am
📍 Shakespear Regional Park, Okoromai Bay

Sign up here: https://scene.sonyanz.com/events/bird-photography-at-shakespear-regional-park-nov-2026

With summer just around the corner, I’m heading back to Shakespear Regional Park for another morning of bird photography, and I’d love you to join me!

This time, we’re starting a little later in the morning, making the most of the brighter light and mid-tide conditions around the Okoromai Bay wetlands.

We’ll be looking out for shorebirds feeding along the tidal flats, native birds around the wetlands and hopefully some tūī enjoying the beautiful red pōhutukawa flowers as they begin to bloom.

It’s a wonderful time of year to explore bird photography, with opportunities to work on bird behaviour, composition, natural backgrounds, autofocus and camera settings.

This is a relaxed, hands-on photography walk, open to all experience levels and camera brands. I’ll be sharing tips along the way, and there will also be a selection of Sony telephoto and super-telephoto lenses available to try.

☕ And there’s more!

After the workshop, we’ll head to Cherry Café from 11 am to 12 pm for a relaxed coffee or early lunch catch-up, bird photography chat and image review.

A great opportunity to connect with fellow photographers, share our images and continue the conversation.

The catch-up is a separate event, so make sure you register for that too!

Looking forward to another morning of observing, learning and creating together!

📸 GOLDEN HOUR PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP | CORNWALL PARK

I’m bringing back my Golden Hour Portrait Photography Workshop, and registrations are now open!

Join me for a hands-on outdoor portrait photography experience at Cornwall Park, where we’ll explore how to make the most of beautiful golden-hour light while working with portrait models.

We’ll experiment with different focal lengths, natural light, backlighting, composition and posing, and see how small changes in positioning and perspective can completely transform a portrait.

This isn’t about complicated lighting setups or technical lectures. It’s about getting out with our cameras, experimenting, learning from each other and building confidence photographing people.

To make sure everyone gets plenty of shooting time and individual guidance, I’m keeping this workshop to just 10 photographers, working in smaller groups of five.

📍 Cornwall Park, Auckland

📅 Saturday, 14 November 2026

⏰ 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

🎟️ $40 per person | Only 10 spots available

Sony Alpha 📸 cameras and portrait lenses will also be available to try, subject to availability.

All camera brands welcome, and you don’t need to be an experienced portrait photographer to join us!

If you’ve been wanting to explore portrait photography or improve your understanding of natural light, I’d love to have you along.

📸 Let’s wrap up Sony Scene Festival together!

What an amazing two months it’s been! I’ve met so many wonderful photographers through my Sony Scene workshops and photo walks, and what better way to wrap it all up than to bring everyone together once again!

This Saturday, 31st October, join me for TWO FREE events in Auckland City!

☕ 8:30–9:30 am | Coffee Catch-Up
📍 Daily Bread Café, Auckland C*D

Let’s reconnect, share our favourite moments, talk about what we’ve learned and exchange ideas for future workshops!

📸 9:30–11:30 am | Auckland C*D Photo Walk

After coffee, we’ll head out for a relaxed couple of hours exploring the city with our cameras. No set theme, just plenty of opportunities to observe, experiment and create together!

It also coincides with the Diwali Festival in the city, so I’m hoping Auckland will be buzzing with people, colour and activity! Perfect for street photography, architecture, people and whatever else catches your eye.

🚍 A little heads-up: Parking could be tricky with Diwali celebrations happening, so I highly recommend using public transport.

✨ Both events are FREE but require separate registrations on Sony Scene.

🔗 Links to both events are in Comments ⬇️

Whether we’ve met at a previous workshop or you’re joining for the first time, I’d love to see you there!

There’s something so therapeutic about a walk on the beach at sunset with a pocket camera 📷
The series of images above were shot on this little pocket camera- SONY RX100vii Cybershot, which I found soo impressive for its size. I love using my phone when I don’t have my camera on me but having a small pocket camera is far better than using phone because it doesn’t distract you with constant notifications on screen🔔

This Sunday, join me for a small-group, hands-on landscape workshop at Long Bay Regional Park. 🌅

Long Bay has given me so many reasons to keep coming back with my camera. These photographs, taken over the years, show some of what the beach reveals around sunset and low tide—rock-pool reflections, exposed reef and coastal textures.

Want to feel more confident shooting in manual? Unsure how to use your ND filters? We’ll work through settings, composition and long exposures, with time for questions and individual guidance as the evening light changes.

📅 Sunday, 18 October
⏰ 6–8 pm
📍 Long Bay Regional Park
🎟️ $25 per person

📷 Bring your camera, tripod, wide-angle lens and ND filters.
All camera brands are welcome.

Every evening brings something different, but these images offer a little inspiration for what we might find. Fingers crossed for a colourful sunset! If heavy rain or unsuitable conditions are forecast, we’ll postpone.

Book through Sony Scene - link in bio.
