Being a photographer has trained my eyes to see things in a different way.

I’m always looking for light. Where it falls, how it moves, what it touches and somewhere along the way, that started following me outside of photography too.

I notice the light dancing on the water. The way it catches the edge of a branch. Tiny details I might once have walked straight past.

I think that’s one of the most beautiful gifts photography has given me, it’s taught me to notice so much more beauty in the everyday. ✨

These little faces are the inspiration behind everything I do with my photography.

Over the years my editing has slowly shifted towards something more natural, because I know how quickly they change and holding onto these moments is why we all invest in photos in the first place!

So for me, it’s all about preserving what’s naturally there. The little details. When you look back on your images, I want you to see your kids exactly as they were at that age.

I’m so inspired by all the moments I want captured as a mum too. How they can still fit in my lap. The size of their hands in mine. All the tiny interactions with my own kids that I cherish, and wish I had captured so I could come back to them.

The chaos and the reality. That’s the stuff I never want to forget ✨

How I set up for a newborn session in The Light Loft | Natural Light Content Studio Hamilton ✨

Studio hire is a complimentary option for my packages so if you aren’t keen on an in home session this is a great option!

Also for those that have been around here for a while: yes this is my old studio! I had to let it got when I took almost a year off for my long covid. Thankfully the new studio hosts/owners now hire it out so we can still utilise this beautiful space 🥹✨❤️

In my opinion, being a great photographer isn’t just about creating a pretty, award-winning image. It’s about the experience you give your clients and how you make them feel.

How someone feels while being photographed by you shapes how they feel about their final images, no matter how technically perfect those images are.

I’ll never claim to be perfect, but client experience is something I’m so passionate about. I’m always working behind the scenes to do better, so it means the world when it’s noticed and appreciated 🥰😭

The photoshoot that almost didn’t happen.
harte has been so open about how different postpartum has felt this time around. Between daycare bugs, sleep deprivation and feeding challenges, this session very nearly got postponed.

Instead, we took the pressure off.

Beau needed a little longer to settle that morning, so we waited. We chatted, slowed everything down and let him set the pace. Once he was ready, we kept things simple and captured a beautiful collection of moments to forever look back on.

Postpartum doesn’t always leave much space to pause and take it all in. Sometimes you’re simply getting through the next feed, the next wake-up, the next day.

That’s why these photographs matter.

Not because those weeks are easy or perfect, but because they become part of your family’s story and a way back to moments that were there all along, even if survival didn’t leave much room to notice them. 🤍

For this image, I felt like it would look so good printed big and the houses in the background take your focus away from the family, so I removed them. A little hoha (annoying) because when you remove a distraction from one photo, to make a gallery cohesive you have to do it on all of the similar photos/photos in the same spot 🤣
But hey, it was worth it 🔥

The tiny things.
The things you swear you’ll remember forever.
And then one day, you realise you can’t quite remember the shape of their lashes, the wrinkles on their knees, or those impossibly tiny toes.
That’s why I photograph the details.
