Weather changes so fast in New Zealand. What started as a sunny Saturday morning, soon turned moody with dark clouds covering the sky. Out of a sudden, big chunky hails started falling, which turned into heavy rain and then sunny again after some time. All seasons in one day!!

Silence, snow and untouched beauty!

Had one of the most nerve-wracking driving experiences of my life.

We were driving through a mountainous region at night — a place known for its unpredictable weather — when it started to rain. Within minutes, the drizzle turned into a downpour. Then, just like that, the rain gave way to heavy snow. Visibility dropped to just a few feet. The road disappeared in front of us.

The scariest part? One side of the road was a deep valley. In some stretches, there were no barriers — just a narrow, winding road and sheer drop. A slight oversteer, and it could’ve ended badly.

We crawled along hardly at 10–15 km/h, relying solely on the white edge line and the faint glimmer of roadside reflectors to stay on track. Stopping wasn’t an option — it was snowing heavily, and getting stranded at an unknown isolated patch with freezing weather wasn’t a good option.

For the next 30 minutes, it was a slow, tense descent until we finally dropped to a lower altitude — and just like that, the blizzard eased.

Never experienced anything like it before. This is one story I’ll be telling for years. Let me know if you’ve experienced anything similar.

Drove 140 km to capture the majestic Devil’s Punchbowl waterfall. Hiked all the way, set up my tripod… and then realised I had left my landscape lens at home. 🤦‍♂️

Only had my portrait lens. Of course, my ND filter for the long exposure shot didn’t fit either.

So, the epic landscape shoot turned into a spontaneous portrait session. Managed a half-second cropped shot of the falls for that dreamy water effect—and got some casual family shots. Not what I planned, but still a win!
