Two years ago, my niece made her entrance into the world. My sister in law flew to Christchurch for a last minute maternity session, and soon after, I flew to Queenstown to capture their first days as a family 🥰

Photographing families makes you realise just how quickly time moves. One moment they’re tiny newborns, and the next they’re becoming little people with personalities all their own 💕

Many people think that an in-home session only involves a few setups in the living room and perhaps the bedroom. While I truly enjoy capturing moments in those areas, I always look for additional spots to explore!

The kitchen, in particular, is where families create some of their most cherished memories, whether it’s a relaxed Saturday morning, a toddler lending a hand while stirring something on the stove even or baking together with kids perched on the counter. It’s one of the most frequently used spaces in your home, making it a perfect setting to document.

This in-home session serves as a wonderful reminder to embrace and showcase the spaces you inhabit the most. 🥰

Capturing older newborns allows us to showcase their developing personalities in a genuine way. By this stage, they begin to express themselves with smiles and curious looks and giggles 💕

It’s important to emphasize that it’s never too late to document these moments. Whether your baby is a few weeks or a few months old, each phase brings its own beauty and new milestone.

If your baby is a few months old haven’t scheduled a session yet, now is a great time to consider it. Let’s work together to create images that reflect your baby’s growth and the special bond you share as a family 🥰
