🔥 Firewheel Tree (Stenocarpus sinuatus) 🔥

A burst of nature’s own fireworks! These striking crimson blooms belong to the Firewheel Tree, a spectacular species native to Queensland, Australia. The unusual wheel-shaped flowers bloom during autumn, providing a valuable nectar source for native birds such as tūī and bellbirds.

📍 Captured at Cornwall Park, Auckland and this magnificent Firewheel Tree is estimated to be around 60 years old

Wing Commander Nirmal Siyambalapitiya of the Sri Lanka Air Force, who dedicated himself tirelessly for days to the national mission of rescuing Sri Lankans affected by the recent disaster.

On 30 November 2025, in a tragic and unforeseen accident that unfolded high above his hometown, he left us while bravely carrying out his duty.

Farewell, dear Nirmal — our hearts mourn deeply.
