Yarko is a male Siberian (Amur) tiger. Some years ago I was able to photograph him in the evening sun. How handsome is he in this light?

Close up of lion Max. Up close he does look more intimidating, don't you think?

Lion Max back in 2019. I always felt he was the 'shy' one. This photo shows he has such a gentle expression. I rarely captured him looking as intimidating as his brothers. Either way, he is my favourite lion, maybe because of that. Don't get me wrong, I do love a bad-ass lion stare too. 😉

One of those days....

If this were a human, I would say this is a Monday morning face. Not in the mood for anything.

I recently found out two things about my favourite lion; that he has unfortunately (for me) moved to Germany and his name; Lion Max now lives in ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen where he moved to as part of the European breeding program. He is introduced to two lionesses and will hopefully have cubs of his own one day.

He will be missed at ZooParc Overloon where he lived with his brothers for 10 years. This photo was taken in 2019. There will be more photos of this day posted soon to complete the row. 😉

"Say cheeeeese!"

Obviously Kibibi was not smiling. A chimpanzee shows their teeth for example when she is a bit anxious, in this case she may say "Back off, you're making me nervous about the baby's safety."

So Kibibi was trying to make it clear to her younger sister that she did not want her to play with her baby gir.

One of the adult male Western chimpanzees at Eindhoven Zoo. I wonder if this would be a comfortable pose for a human. It seems to be relaxing for him though.

Little Chimpanzees Ngozi is a one year old baby boy who is starting to explore his world. And when he is tired, his mum Jana is there to keep him safe and warm.

Some of my favourite photos of 2026 so far. Some I have posted, some I have not yet. Which is your favourite?

To me Hugo, the white tiger, is a precious animal, because je is one of the last white tigers in The Netherlands and Awi's brother.

Chimpanzee Kibibi reminds me of a personal milestone so therefore her and her baby and sister have a special place in my heart.

The little cheetah is the son of my favourite cheetah Tazi and precious for obvious reasons.

The other photos are of beatiful animals that I had the pleasure to get in fromt of my camera this year.

And last but not least, a close op of my favourite lion.
