Tonight at 8.25pm on Dutch Television (NPO2): “Girl with a Pearl Earring, Portrait of an icon”. What makes it that the light on the face of Vermeer’s famous girl so extraordinary? Im this documentary, I get to share some insights on this and even portray a girl with a pearl earring myself, live on camera.
A special encounter with a painting that has fascinated me for years. Will you be watching?

Tomorrow evening, the first part of the two-part TV documentary about the Girl with a Pearl Earring airs on Dutch TV (NPO2 at 8:25 PM). The second part, in which I share my insights on the iconic painting and portray a 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' live, will be broadcast next Tuesday, October 20 (20.25 PM).

In 1622 Frans Hals painted this wonderfully relaxed Portrait of a couple. Today it’s hanging in the Gallery of Honour of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Because sometimes the best way to experience art… is to become part of it. So more then 400 years later, we step into his world. Same spirit, same elegance but different faces.

For a moment, the 21st Century disappeared ⚜️She became the lady of the house while her two younger brothers took their new roles very seriously. Armed, dressed and ready to defend the family honour 😎
This is what I love about photographing children: give them a costume, a character and a little imagination. And suddenly, history comes alive.
Three siblings, one portrait, a memory for life ❤️
