Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has formally presented Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the 24 State House of Assembly constituencies in the State, declaring the party fully prepared for the 2027 general elections.

The Governor also presented INEC acknowledgement slips to the party's senatorial and House of Representatives candidates who had earlier received, completed and submitted their nomination forms in accordance with the electoral guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Gombe, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the successful conclusion of the party's primary elections and nomination process marked the beginning of a new phase focused on securing overwhelming victory for the APC at the polls.

He congratulated all the candidates on their emergence, describing the party's primaries as peaceful, transparent and credible, with outcomes duly accepted by the national leadership of the APC, thereby putting to rest all issues relating to the nomination process.

The Governor urged party leaders, candidates and supporters to close ranks, intensify grassroots mobilisation and work as one united family to ensure the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, as well as all National and State Assembly candidates.

"We now have our governorship candidate in Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, alongside our candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly. The task before us is to remain united and work tirelessly to deliver victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates from top to bottom," the Governor stated.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya further charged party members to take the APC's message to every community by showcasing the achievements of the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda and the transformational strides recorded by his administration across all sectors in Gombe State.

"APC can confidently beat its chest anywhere because we have fulfilled our campaign promises. Our performance speaks for itself, and it is now our collective responsibility to translate these achievements into electoral success in 2027," he added.

Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly candidates, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for Akko Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his exemplary leadership, steadfastness and political dexterity, which, he said, enabled the party to successfully navigate the challenges of the primary election process.

He expressed confidence that under the Governor's leadership, the APC would record another landslide victory at the 2027 polls.

"We must continue to work collectively under the leadership of His Excellency as one united family, just as we have always done, to ensure the APC records another resounding victory come 2027," Hon. Kumo said.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, pledged the commitment of all APC State Assembly candidates to work harmoniously with the party leadership and mobilise support across their respective constituencies to secure victory for the APC.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Mohammed Dantata Ndus, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for providing purposeful leadership that culminated in the successful conduct of the party's primary elections across the state, as well as the peaceful and credible local government and Local Council Development Areas elections.

He congratulated all the candidates and urged party members to remain united, close ranks and rededicate themselves to the shared goal of delivering a sweeping victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya Attends Wedding Fatiha of Sheikh Yusuf Rigachukun's Four Daughters in Kaduna

Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, alongside his Kaduna State counterpart, Senator Uba Sani, eminent Islamic scholars, political leaders and other dignitaries attended the wedding fatiha of four daughters of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachukun, in Kaduna.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya played a prominent role in the solemnization by serving as the Waliy ( guardian) for Ummul Kulthum Yusuf Sambo, formally giving her hand in marriage to Musa Jumare Shehu through his Wakil * representative), Sale Ibrahim Shehu, after the payment of a dowry of N400,000, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

The wedding fatiha was presided over by Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, who conducted the marriages of Maryam Yusuf Sambo and Abubakar Lawal Kafanchan; Fatima Yusuf Sambo and Dr. Rufa'i Hussaini; Aisha Yusuf Sambo and Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo; as well as Ummukhulsum Yusuf Sambo and Musa Jumare Shehu.

Prominent Islamic clerics, including Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, Sheikh Muhammad Kabir Haruna Gombe, Sheikh Dalha Abubakar, Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo among other respected scholars witnessed the weddings.

Also in attendance were notable political figures, including former Sokoto State Governor, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Ashiru Kudan.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya congratulated the four couples and their families, encouraging the newlyweds to uphold the values of faith, mutual respect, tolerance and understanding as the foundation of a peaceful and successful marital life.

Northern Governors' Forum Chairman Inuwa Yahaya Unveils NNGF Secretariat, Says North Must Rise Above Its Challenges

'North Must Dream Bigger, Build on Founding Fathers' Legacy'- NNGF Chairman

The Chairman of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum (NNGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has commissioned the temporary Secretariat of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum in Kaduna, describing it as a historic milestone in the Forum's determination to strengthen its institutional capacity and drive coordinated solutions to the socio-economic and security challenges confronting Northern Nigeria.

Located at No. 26 Muhammadu Buhari Way (formerly WAFF Road) Kaduna, the Secretariat was officially inaugurated alongside a fleet of operational vehicles provided to facilitate the smooth take-off and effective functioning of the Forum.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the establishment of a functional secretariat signals a new era for the Forum, providing the institutional framework required to effectively coordinate policies, programmes and collective interventions aimed at advancing the interests of the nineteen Northern states.

He called on his fellow governors and all leaders across the region to remain united and guided by present-day realities in tackling the North's numerous challenges.

"The reality on the ground should guide us in addressing the challenges confronting Northern Nigeria today. Edifices like this were built decades ago by our founding fathers. What stops us from building upon the solid foundations they laid? We must strive for excellence, dream big, remain focused, and leave behind enduring legacies for future generations," the Governor stated.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya observed that the current situation in the North demands greater commitment, sacrifice and collective action, expressing confidence that with the roadmap already laid by the Forum, the region can overcome its challenges and unlock its immense potential.

"The current situation in Northern Nigeria demands that we do more to remedy the circumstances we find ourselves in. I believe that with the roadmap we have laid, the sky is the limit. Achieving our shared vision requires the sacrifice and commitment of every one of us," he said.

The NNGF Chairman commended his colleagues for their support and commitment to his vision of institutionalising the Forum into a vibrant and result-oriented regional body capable of effectively addressing the socio-economic and developmental aspirations of Northern Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Nasir Idris, reaffirmed the commitment of Northern governors to sustaining unity and strengthening collaboration in confronting the region's common challenges.

He noted that despite operating for many years without a functional secretariat, the Forum had continued to serve as a platform for cooperation among Northern governors, and praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya for providing purposeful and visionary leadership that has culminated in the establishment of the Secretariat.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Northern Nigeria Governors' Forum, Dr. Ezekiel Gomos, described the commissioning as a significant step towards repositioning the Forum for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

He said the Secretariat would enhance coordination of the Forum's programmes, policies and engagements, bringing it in line with other regional bodies and the Nigeria Governors' Forum.

Dr. Gomos expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for championing the initiative and thanked all Northern governors for their support, assuring that both the Secretariat and the operational vehicles would be judiciously utilized for the purposes for which they were provided.

Gombe Government Commissions new VVF, Pediatric Stabilisation Centres at Deba General Hospital
..Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Healthcare Services

The Gombe State Government has commissioned a modern Obstetric Fistula Centre and a Paediatric Stabilisation Centre at the General Hospital, Deba, in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau Ph.D, who represented Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, said the facilities demonstrate the administration's resolve to prioritise the health and well-being of the people.

He noted that since assuming office in 2019, the present administration has placed healthcare delivery service at the forefront of its development agenda through the establishment of 24-hour health clinics across the state's 114 political wards, expansion of healthcare infrastructure and implementation of people-centred health programmes.

Dr. Jatau explained that the Obstetric Fistula Centre was constructed and equipped through the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), following an initiative by the Gombe State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

According to him, the centre will provide comprehensive, accessible and high-quality treatment for women living with obstetric fistula, helping to restore their dignity, confidence and social well-being.

He added that the Paediatric Stabilisation Centre will strengthen efforts to reduce child mortality by providing specialised care for malnourished children.

"This facility is aimed at restoring dignity, rebuilding lives and giving women suffering from fistula the opportunity to regain their confidence and rightful place in society," the Deputy Governor said.

He further called on healthcare workers, community leaders and residents to ensure proper ownership, maintenance and sustainability of the facilities and stressed the importance of prompt response to health challenges, professionalism and ethical conduct in service delivery, noting that healthcare requires timely action and collective responsibility.

He also urged citizens to embrace immunisation, vaccination and other preventive healthcare services, saying public understanding and acceptance of health interventions would encourage development partners to sustain their support for the state.

Dr. Jatau commended the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful ex*****on of the project.

"We must work together to ensure these facilities continue to serve our citizens for years to come while strengthening healthcare delivery across Gombe State," he said.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the Permanent Secretary ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Jalo said the commissioning of the centres underscored the unwavering support of the administration of governor Inuwa Yahaya to strengthening healthcare system and a significant milestone in the journey to achieving universal access to quality health care, especially for women, newborns and children, noting that fistulae and the pediatric centers represent hope, healing , dignity and renewed opportunities for the most vulnerable members of the society.

He said “The obstetrics fistula center will provide comprehensive care for women suffering from obstetrics fistula , restoring not only their physical health, but also their confidence, social inclusion and economic productivity, Likewise, the pediatric stabilisation center will play a vital role in providing lifesaving treatment for critically malnourished children.”

The permanent secretary expressed appreciation to the UNFP and the Taimaka project for their invaluable contributions to maternal and reproductive health and child survival, pledging the continued partnership towards mobilising resources, strengthening coordination and promoting evidenced based planning that improves the well being of the people.

He also called on stakeholders to ensure that they effectively manage and fully utilize the facilities for it to effectively deliver the intended benefit to the people.

Delivering a goodwill message, the permanent secretary misnistry of health Idris Yambiyu Buba appreciated development partners for believing the commitment of Gombe state government on improving the welfare of the people and assured that the health ministry will continue to embrace partnership for the overall development of health in Gómbe.

In a remark, the representive of the UNFPA, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Gombe State Government in the fight against obstetric fistula through strategic partnerships aimed at improving maternal healthcare and described the commissioning of the facility as a major milestone that offers renewed hope to women living with fistula

He said,a lot of women are living with fistular in Nigeria, adding that in Gombe state, Yamaltu Deba local government area has the highest number of fistular cases which necessitated the establishment of the center ín Deba General Hospital, adding that about one hundred and fifty one women have so far benefited from the intervention in the year 2025 jointly provided by the Gómbe state government and Nowajian government through the UNFPA.

He applauded Gombe State's commitment and determination to rewriting the indices of fistular, and for ensuring an enabling environment for partners support to the enhancement of health sector.

Also, the co-founder of Taimaka, Dr. Abubakar Umar said the inauguration of the pediatric stabilisation center in the hospital as another milestone in saving children's lives.

He said that the facility has 203-bed facility, with plans for expansion to 250 beds, fully equipped with seven doctors, over 50 nurses and nursing assistants providing free treatment for every child in need, reiterating Taimaka's commitment to working with the state government to ensure that no child dies from a treatable condition.

Similarly the Emir of Deba QS, Ahmed Usman and the Chairman of Deba local government Area, Alhaji Yunusa Yakubu thanked the Gómbe state government, UNFPA and Taimaka for for the project expressing optimism that the centers will help in addressing fistula among women and malnutrition among children, calling on parent to desist from early marriage which is the major cause of fistular among women.

They promised to encourage their people on the need for proper maintenance of the facilities for the benefit of the communities.

The commissioning
of the centers featured testimonies from survivors of fistular, and a symbolic presentation of fistula kits, commodities and drugs to the centers as well as packages to the survivors.

Present at the event were Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers, Chairman of GOSIEC, traditional rulers and Heads of Security Agencies among others.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya Submits 23 Commissioner-Nominees to Gombe Assembly for Confirmation

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has formally transmitted to the Gombe State House of Assembly a list of twenty-three nominees for appointment as Honourable Commissioners and members of the Gombe State Executive Council, seeking legislative approval in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a letter dated June 29, 2026, and addressed to the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the Governor invoked Section 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), requesting the Assembly's approval to appoint the nominees to assist in the formulation and implementation of government policies and the effective administration of the state.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted in the correspondence that the nominees were carefully selected to provide policy direction and functional contributions necessary for the efficient running of the machinery of government and the consolidation of the administration's development agenda.

In the letter, the Governor expressed confidence in the Assembly's consideration of the request and conveyed the assurances of his highest regard to the Honourable House.

The Gombe State House of Assembly is expected to commence the screening and confirmation process in the coming days, after which the successful nominees will be sworn in and assigned portfolios to drive the next phase of the administration's governance and development programmes.

Gombe State has conducted a peaceful and transparent Local Government Council elections across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state.

The exercise witnessed an impressive turnout of eligible voters, who freely exercised their constitutional rights in an orderly atmosphere, with electoral officials and security personnel effectively discharging their responsibilities.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, who cast his ballot at the Yahaya Umaru Polling Unit 010 of Jekadafari Ward, located at Government Science Secondary School Gombe, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, commending the enthusiasm displayed by the electorate and the peaceful disposition of all stakeholders throughout the exercise.

The Governor stressed his administration's commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting credible electoral processes and deepening grassroots governance as critical drivers of sustainable development in Gombe State.

"Well, you've seen it yourselves. The turnout is very impressive. I have casted my vote, along side our party's gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna and host of other eligible voters.

From what we have witnessed so far, the election is free, fair and peaceful, and I believe the outcome will be beneficial to all of us," the Governor stated.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who was visibility happy with the massive voter-turnout said "I am delighted by the enthusiasm demonstrated by our people. Their peaceful participation is a clear reflection of their confidence in the democratic process and our leadership".

Governor Inuwa Yahaya observed that Gombe State has consistently recorded peaceful Local Government elections over the years, expressing confidence that the current exercise would further consolidate the state's democratic credentials.

"We have conducted several Local Government elections in the past, and they have all been peaceful and successful. I believe this one will equally end peacefully" he added.

The Governor disclosed that feedback from various Local Government Areas indicated that the election was progressing smoothly without any security concerns or major incidents.

"We are conducting the election here, and the same process is taking place across the state. So far, there are no reports of any problem. In a matter of hours, voting will be concluded, collation will commence, and the results will emerge" he stated calling on contestants to accept the outcome of the elections.

Across the state, the election was generally observed to be peaceful, orderly and transparent, with eligible voters turning out in large numbers to freely elect candidates of their choice in accordance with democratic principles.

At various polling units across the state, election officials, security personnel and independent observers were seen carrying out their responsibilities without interference.

Collation of results is expected to commence immediately after the conclusion of voting across the state.

The election is the first to be conducted since the creation of the 13 LCDAs by Governor Inuwa Yahaya as part of his commitment to deepening grassroots governance, accelerating development and bringing government closer to the people.
