BEFORE YOU MOCK OR LOOK DOWN ON A SINGLE MOTHER OR A WIDOW RAISING CHILDREN ALONE, PLEASE CONSIDER THIS:
🤏Before you judge her, remember that you may never know the battles she fights behind closed doors.
1. Some single mothers chose peace over drama. They decided to raise their children without constantly demanding child maintenance (OSOPOTA ndji hayipopiwa) from the father not because the children do not have needs, but because she realized that 'you cannot force someone to take responsibility when they have chosen not to.) Every responsible adult should know that children need food, clothing, education, shelter, love, and care.
2. Some mothers are doing double parenting, being both mother and father, carrying responsibilities that were meant for two people.
3. Some were simply abandoned by the fathers of their children (omuntu etayi nuuyuni we). Some were left despite having done nothing wrong. Others are raising children with fathers who are physically present but emotionally and financially absent (aalumentu yamwe oyena uukwapata wululila-otape waamwayina yaakintu, omanka mbu avala tau mono iihuna!
4. Behind that strong single woman may be countless sleepless nights, endless hustling, tears she never shows, and sacrifices nobody sees. There are mothers who go to bed hungry so that their children can have something to eat. Mothers who wear a smile during the day while silently wondering how they will provide for tomorrow—Simanekeni aakintu taya tekula omaluvalo gao!.
And the same applies to widowers raising their children alone Losing a spouse and suddenly carrying the responsibility of raising children alone is a burden that only someone who has lived through it can truly understand.
So, please stop mocking people for circumstances you have never experienced. Stop looking down on single mothers. Stop judging widowers. Stop assuming that you know their story simply because you see their situation. Some people are fighting battles you cannot see.
Instead of judging them, respect their strength. Instead of mocking them, encourage them. Instead of speaking down to them, pray for them. Because one day, life may place you and your loved ones in a situation you once laughed at. Be kind. Be compassionate. You never know how hard someone is fighting just to keep their family going, especially the single mothers! ❤️
