This one causes a lot of confusion.

When people say, “We want drone,” that’s basically the equivalent of saying, “We want tripod.” It doesn’t really tell us what you want.

There are three main options:

1. Drone photos
A set of aerial photos of the property, land and surrounding area.

2. Drone-only video
A complete video made entirely from drone footage. This can work particularly well for marketing land, empty lots, developments or larger properties.

3. Drone footage added to a regular video
You’re already having a home tour or another type of video produced, and you want aerial footage included as part of that video.

Those are the three options. So when asking for drone, just let us know which one you mean.

To script the video or freestyle it?

There are benefits to both.

With a script, the video is generally smoother and we can plan clever cuts that feel completely seamless. You don’t have to follow the script word for word either, so it can still feel natural and authentic.

Freestyling can give you even more authenticity, but those seamless cuts are much harder to achieve when we don’t know exactly what’s coming next.

In my experience, most people perform better with a script, even if we only use it as a guide.

Cloudy day? No need to cancel the shoot. This property was photographed under grey skies, then carefully edited to look bright, sunny and inviting. Good editing can completely transform the final result while keeping the property looking natural.

The best time of day to shoot real estate, especially video, is golden hour.

That strong orange glow from the setting sun can make almost any property look incredible. Then, as the sun disappears and you move into twilight, the property starts to take on a much more premium, cinematic look.

You don’t need golden hour or twilight for every property. But for premium properties, it’s absolutely worth considering.

It takes more time, more setup, and we essentially shoot multiple times as the light changes, which is why I charge more for it.

But for the right property, the results are worth it.
