There are couples who walk into a celebration, and there are couples who create one. Ivyonna and Andre are the second kind.
Seven years after meeting just past their high school chapter, they chose Grand Velas Riviera Maya to begin the next one. The morning held something quietly beautiful — gifts exchanged behind closed doors, letters written only for each other and read before either of them stepped into the day. By the time they reached the water, the emotion was already there, set and waiting.
The ceremony unfolded at the Zen Pool, twenty-three of their closest people near enough to hear every promise. Then came the part they'd been counting down to: cocktails, family portraits, and a reception on the Grand Class Deck with first dances, toasts that hushed the room and then filled it again, the cake cutting, the bouquet toss, and a last dance no one wanted to be the one to end.
A destination wedding at Grand Velas Riviera Maya is, on paper, a venue and a guest list. In the hands of two people this generous and alive, it becomes a portrait of exactly who they are. We were honored to photograph it.
