A very humid and hot hike up Ancon Hill was so worth for not only the views, but spotting agouti, vultures, lots of different and scary looking spiders, butterflies, two poison tree frogs and two toucan, all in the wild! We then took an Uber over the Bridge De Las Americas and back to the Biomuseo where colourful little hummingbirds flitted about. We walked the Amadour and finished at the fish market for a well earned cold drink and delicious late lunch. After a stroll back through the old town we relaxed in our roof top pool overlooking the roofs of Casco Viejo. 🤩

So, it's been an extremely busy, but incredible couple of week! As well as all my normal work, I have spent a couple of weeks photographing the amazing students from the Stay-Focused Charity - all teenagers with varying disabilities - whilst they trained for their PADI OW diving courses. On top of that, I officially completed my 2000 dives whilst with them, and also welcomed my beautiful new little granddaughter, Aurelia, to the world. What a wonderful few weeks!

If anyone would like to donate to the Stay Focused Charity, please see the link below:

All funds raised directly benefit the teens and young adults with disabilities who participate in Stay-Focused certification and leadership development programs. Contributions at any level will be most appreciated.

Sometimes the big camera doesn't do the job! All these were taken with an Olympus TG-6 with one INON Z-330 strobe. I wanted to take a photo of divers close to a seahorse, so needed a versatile lens to do the trick. Thanks to Mateusz and Cheryl for posing for me :). The TG series of cameras are very underrated and can take great images! Many clients are actually downgrading from DSLR and mirrorless cameras because of their flexibility and small size.

For our last dive of the trip, we decided to forgo the 2 tank boat dives and have a nice leisurely dive on the stunning house reef at CoralEyebangka. The soft and hard corals are absolutely stunning! Being a the very centre of the Coral triangle, the diversity and sheer amount of corals and marine life is unbelievable. It is so wonderful to see such healthy reefs when many around the world have died off. We will miss the people, the beautiful resort and the incredible diving.

After my underwater photography workshop at CoralEyebangka, we have a couple of days of R&R. Of course, when you are staying somewhere where the diving is so spectacular, we just had to do another two boat dives, but this time I took my 'proper' camera 🙂. We had a brilliant couple of dives with Miguel, searching for macro critters amongst the incredible soft and hard coral gardens around Sahaung and Batu Tiga dive sites, as well as a night dive the previous night, and a snorkel on the stunning house reef at Coral Eye (natural light photography only). We are doing our last dive of the trip on the house reef this morning...photos to follow....

With my underwater photography workshop now complete and participants heading home, I've now had time to process the last day of diving photos taken yesterday with my Olympus TG-6 with 1 x INON S-220 strobe. We were delighted to find two ghost nudibranchs...almost impossible to spot, and very rare - the first ones I've ever seen!

Today was very bittersweet - after 10 days of teaching and being together everyone feels like family and it was sad to see everyone go, although it now means I have a couple of days here at CoralEyebangka to R&R. Shortly before waving them off, we felt the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, entered near the Philippines! We hope to see and dive with everyone again very soon.

After a very relaxing and excellent massage I'm now off for a night dive with my big camera :) !
