📸 GROWING TOGETHER THROUGH SKILLS AND MENTORSHIP
Today, I had the privilege of serving as the Facilitator during the first day of the Photography & Videography Mentorship, bringing together young people in our community for a day of learning, creativity and practical skills at INNOVATION HUB -LAMU REDCROSS BRANCH,HINDI.
Our session took us through the history of photography, types of cameras, camera accessories and the exposure triangle — ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. More importantly, we focused on helping the young creatives understand how a photograph is created and how they can use their creativity to tell stories from their own communities.
For me, this is what community work is about, creating opportunities, sharing knowledge and walking alongside young people as they discover their abilities. Skills can open doors, build confidence and create pathways for young people to become contributors and change-makers within their communities.
As a Kenya Red Cross Society volunteer, I am grateful for every opportunity to serve, learn and share what I know with others.
My sincere appreciation to IOME and Kenya Red Cross-lamu branch for creating this platform and giving me the opportunity to facilitate. Thank you for believing in the power of skills development, mentorship and community-led action, and for allowing us to grow together while creating meaningful impact among our youth.
Tomorrow, we continue with types of photography, storytelling, editing, monetizing creative skills and an open Q&A session.
This is not just about photography.
It is about empowering young people with skills, strengthening confidence and creating opportunities within our communities.
