In Mkunumbi Village Lamu County,through UHAI Africa i engaged parents, youth, and community leaders in a civic education forum focused on protecting children’s right to education. The discussion highlighted shared civic duties, community-led solutions, and the need to safeguard learners from challenges such as absenteeism, insecurity, and substance abuse.
Encouragingly, the community committed to forming a local follow-up committee to support school attendance and improve education outcomes.

Home may be less about a fixed place and more about a feeling of peace. It can exist anywhere, everywhere, whenever the heart feels at ease.

Huriya house lamu is one such place. A true home away from home, it is thoughtfully built within walls that echo the beauty and grace of Swahili architecture. Here, the air is cool, time seems to slow, and every breath is filled with a quiet sense of excitement and belonging. There is a calm that settles gently, inviting you to pause, to feel, and to simply be.

Huriya is a place with stories still unfolding stories I have much more to tell.

In Arabic, Huriya means freedom. And perhaps that is its truest essence: the freedom of being at home.

If you’ve never been to Tchundwa village on Pate Island, you’re seriously missing out. This place is pure magic. Think ocean breeze, palm trees doing their little dance, and sunsets that make you forget your phone even exists.

The village has this chill, old-school Swahili charm that just wraps around you like a warm hug. People here are kind, the stories are deep, and the vibes? Immaculate.

So yeah, if you ever find yourself wandering through Lamu, take that detour to Tchundwa. It’s not just a placeit’s a whole mood.
