The final whistle brought mixed emotions.

Brazil, a nation that measures football in dreams and trophies, were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Mexico in a World Cup encounter that tested their patience and character. For 90 minutes, the match was a reminder that history does not score goals and reputation does not guarantee victory.

Mexico stood their ground, matching one of football's greatest powers with courage, discipline, and belief. Every challenge was contested, every opportunity fought for, and every minute carried the tension that only the World Cup can create.

In the stands, thousands sang. Around the world, millions watched. Some celebrated, others wondered what might have been. Yet this is the beauty of football's biggest stage—where giants can be challenged, underdogs can inspire, and a single point can feel both like a victory and a missed opportunity.

On a night when Brazil expected more and Mexico refused to back down, the story ended level at 1-1, leaving Group C wide open and the world talking.

DANDORA, NAIROBI,
Spending time photographing life at the Dandora dumpsite has taught me lessons that no classroom could ever teach.
Through my lens, I have met people who wake up every day and work in some of the toughest conditions imaginable, yet they continue to smile, dream, and provide for their families.

As a photographer, these experiences have humbled me.
They have reminded me that many of the things we often take for granted—clean water, a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, and opportunities to pursue our passions—are privileges that not everyone has access to.

Every visit to Dandora challenges me to appreciate the good things in my life and to see the strength, resilience, and dignity that exist within every community.
It has taught me that true wealth is not measured by what we own, but by gratitude, compassion, and our ability to support one another.

Through photography, I continue to learn that every person has a story worth telling, and every story has the power to change how we see the world.

MIAMI, UNITED STATES – JUNE 14: The countdown is almost over as Brazil prepare to face Morocco in their opening FIFA World Cup Group C match. With kickoff just minutes away, fans from both nations are filled with hope and expectation for what promises to be one of the tournament's most exciting encounters.

Brazil arrive carrying the weight of history as five-time world champions, known for producing some of football's greatest talents and unforgettable World Cup moments. Morocco, meanwhile, have earned global respect for their resilience, organization, and ability to challenge the world's biggest teams on the grandest stage.

For Brazil, it is an opportunity to begin their journey toward another World Cup title. For Morocco, it is a chance to prove once again that determination and belief can compete with football's traditional giants. As the players step onto the pitch, only one thing is certain—when the whistle blows, reputation means little, and both teams will fight for the points that could shape their path through the tournament.

"Football has a simple lesson that every World Cup reminds us of: some teams win, and some teams lose, but every team has a story worth telling."

On 12 June 2026 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the United States celebrated a strong 4-1 victory over Paraguay in front of their home fans. For the American supporters, it was a night of joy, pride, and hope. For Paraguay, it was a difficult result, but also a reminder that football is not only about lifting trophies. It is about getting back up, learning from defeat, and believing that the next match can tell a different story.

The World Cup is filled with moments like these. One side leaves the stadium smiling, while the other leaves with heavy hearts. Yet both teams walk onto the same field carrying the dreams of millions of people back home. Winning creates memories, but losing builds character. Together, they are part of what makes football the world's game.

Growing up in Dandora, Nairobi, Kenya many of us made balls from paper, wrapped them with strings and plastic bags, and played for hours in dusty fields, estates, and village roads. We imagined packed stadiums, famous players, and one day watching the World Cup with our own eyes. Football was never just a game to us—it was part of our childhood, our friendships, and our dreams.

Standing here in a Kenyan jersey beside the World Cup trophy, I am reminded of a dream shared by millions of Kenyans. A dream that one day we will not only watch the World Cup from our homes and local viewing centres, but also from the stands, singing our anthem among the world's best. More importantly, it is the dream that one day Kenya will be there too—not as spectators, but as participants, carrying our flag onto football's biggest stage.

Until then, we continue to dream, support, believe, and play. Because every nation that has ever reached the World Cup started with people who believed it was possible.

🏆⚽ THE WORLD CUP SERIES – PART I

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is already making history. For the first time ever, 48 nations are competing in the tournament, giving more countries the chance to showcase their talent on football's biggest stage. The tournament officially kicked off on 11th June 2026 in Mexico City, Mexico, bringing together fans from every corner of the world in celebration of the beautiful game.

Inspired by the excitement surrounding this historic World Cup, Spartan Photography Kenya has launched a special documentary portrait series built around a handmade World Cup trophy created entirely in our studio. Designed from simple materials and brought to life through creativity, the trophy symbolizes the dreams shared by millions of football fans who hope to see their nations lift football's greatest prize.

Today, we begin this journey with Nyamuoch, a South Sudanese model, who becomes the first face of the series. Dressed in the iconic Brazil jersey and standing beside the handcrafted trophy, she represents the anticipation, pride, and passion that football creates long before a ball is kicked. Through portraits, videos, and behind-the-scenes content, this project will explore how the World Cup connects people, cultures, and dreams across borders.

This is just the beginning. More models, more nations, more stories, and the full making of our handmade World Cup trophy are coming soon.
