Kyoto Weddings was founded out of the earnest desire of its founder—a kimono designer—to revitalize the traditional Japanese wedding industry by increasing the number of weddings where couples wear kimono and the number of brides and grooms who choose traditional attire across Japan.
About 30 years ago, as uniquely Japanese chapel weddings began to spread across the country, the number of weddings featuring kimono plummeted. This forced kimono artisans out of business, and witnessing firsthand how they were compelled to abandon the skills and sensibilities passed down from previous generations—whether by changing careers or closing their shops—became another driving force for the founder to launch a wedding planning service specializing in traditional Japanese-style weddings.
Wedding ceremonies held at shrines and temples while wearing kimono are also very popular among foreigners.

With 20 years of experience, Kyoto Weddings has been supporting couples from overseas who come to Kyoto to celebrate their weddings.
The history, culture, and art of Kyoto—all of which place a high value on quality—are deeply woven into the weddings we create.
We do not offer weddings that sacrifice quality for a lower price.

It was a wonderful Buddhist wedding for a lovely couple.

It is possible to have a traditional Japanese-style wedding even while wearing a wedding dress.
An increasing number of people are traveling from various countries to hold their weddings in Japan.
We hope to collaborate with wedding companies and wedding planners from around the world so that we can refer clients to one another for business opportunities.

A ceremony to renew their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary.
The outfits I selected for the couple look absolutely perfect on them.
The couple was deeply moved by the 25th wedding anniversary vow renewal ceremony, which we made a reality through numerous email exchanges between Spain and Japan.

In Japan, there is a ceremony to celebrate the coming-of-age of 20-year-olds, and many of the women attending the ceremony wear a formal kimono known as a "furisode."

Our Kyoto-based wedding production service specializing in authentic Japanese-style ceremonies for international couples has now been operating for 18 years.
We remain deeply grateful for the continued interest from overseas clients in our solemn, traditional ceremonies held at shrines, temples, and Japanese gardens, paired with reception banquets featuring Kyoto cuisine.
My journey began when I was illustrating wedding kimono designs. Working alongside artisans, I helped popularize traditional wedding garments like the shiro-muku, iro-uchikake, and hikifurisode. This experience fueled my desire to preserve these techniques, leading me to start pure Japanese-style wedding production.
I always feel immense joy seeing how beautifully the kimono suits every bride and groom.
