A masquerade gala, a senior shoot with a future doctor from overseas and a first gelato...a great weekend filled with great photo shoots.

Jacob 2026 graduate.

Upon graduation from VHS, he'll be on his way to the States to do mission work.

Jacob, you already make a difference in lives, and no doubt you will continue to do so.

Congratulations, and also, WOW to breaking the school record this past weekend in the 200m (in a sport that he JUST picked up this year!).

Coming home from a wonderful photo shoot, we passed by this gorgeous field.

The light wasn't great, and the outfit was disheveled, but the girl was perfect and so were the poppies.

It was raining so hard, we had to stay in our car for :15, holding on to hope that we would get our chance to photograph 2026 senior, Addie.

The rain passed, thankfully, and we had a great time photographing in the knee high grass that soaked us to the core for all of our long rides home.

So worth it.

Congratulations Addie. Just one month to go!!!

Americans in Valstagna (where we live), this day in 1945.

It's absolutely incredible to know that those who came before Joe helped set the Italians free from fascism 81 years ago on the very streets where we live so freely.

Our house is just to the right where this photo ends.

It makes me so proud to be an American, but also sad that these beautiful people who love on us and Emmy, suffered so much well before we got here.

Just got home from photographing 60 VHS athletes and they.were.awesome.

It's no surprise considering they come from
people like this.

Our little American military family over here makes my job a joy, a heckuva a lot easier and ridiculously fun.

I am reminded everyday not to take life too seriously when I am around them. Life is fragile, and you have to live it hard.

(Photo context-we had just completed the track and field team photo, and Katie was holding the smoke grenades we used in the background. The Rockettes would be proud of this high kick.)

You are my sunshine...

I'm up to my ears in spring sports photos (and iper grateful), and almost scrapped this little shoot (of many) we wanted to do to celebrate Emmy's first birthday.

I only wanted a few photos, but it took a lot of time to get to the location, set up our studio and get Emmy camera ready. I'm so glad I didn't scrap it, because the time spent celebrating our little girl trumps it all. Emmy is our sunshine and our joy and years down the road, I won't remember how busy I was. I'll only remember this amazing gift of sunshine that once was a baby seemingly yesterday.

(...and on a technical note, these photos are straight out of camera. We took it at sunset with a telephoto lens and Profoto off camera light. That's why the mountains look so close and Emmy stands out.)

"So the Vatican sent me these photos."

That's a sentence I'm not sure I ever thought would come out of my mouth.

Emmy and the American Pope.

Our little girl turns a year old on Thursday and I wanted so badly for her to get blessed by the Pope before that happened.
I'm not Catholic, but I love Jesus, so we found ourselves in Rome on a grand adventure to make this happen.

We tried in November and he skipped right over us. It's no easy task getting there (certainly easier living in country) because you have to book free tickets at least a month in advance, drive seven hours, then wait in line for about an hour and a half to get your tickets and then be in another line the next day at 7 AM for the 10 o'clock ceremony.

With a baby, it's a little bit overwhelming.

However, this week's encounter was so beautifully worth it. A blessing for Emmy from our American Pope just before her first birthday.

I'm not gonna lie-now I want to be the Pope's photographer.
