The art of fishing on Kaptai Lake in Rangamati District, Bangladesh reflects the peaceful lifestyle of the hill communities.
A drone photograph beautifully captures tiny boats scattered across the vast blue water, with fishermen casting nets in perfect patterns.
From above, the lake’s winding shores and green hills create a serene landscape, highlighting tradition, patience and the deep connection between local people and nature.

Brick kiln workers break and carry clay bricks through thick dust and extreme heat, revealing the environmental and human cost of traditional brick production.

The industry contributes to severe air pollution, soil degradation, and high carbon emissions tied to rapid urban construction.

Employed on seasonal contracts earning around 80,000 taka per season, many laborers face serious health risks, including breathing problems and various skin diseases, while working in hazardous conditions.

Self-portrait. The dandelion replaces the head as a symbol of ideas and actions. Some seeds remain, others drift away. We try to hold on, yet what we think and do inevitably spreads beyond us.

Mark Power Special Prize – Beyond the Surface: Winners Announced! 😎

We are proud to announce the three projects selected for the Mark Power Special Prize, personally chosen by Mark Power, President of the Jury for the Projects & Portfolios section of the URBAN Photo Awards 2026.

From 23 October to 8 November, at Magazzino 26 in Porto Vecchio, Mark Power will present a selection from Good Morning, America, his long-term project on the United States, alongside the following selected projects:

🎖️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐲 by 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐳𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐯𝐚 📸
Kouzmitcheva explores Belgrade’s post-socialist architecture through the human life unfolding within and around its concrete structures. Her images reveal how everyday gestures, colour and presence transform repetitive spaces.
---
🎖️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐚𝐫 by 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢 📸
Possati explores the changing landscape of Italian Pianura Padana through objects, abandoned places and traces of a disappearing past. The project takes the form of a four-part book, reflecting on memory, time and transformation.
---
🎖️ 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞 by 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐤 📸
Sank portrays the close-knit community of Burnthouse Lane, focusing on the personal details that give individuality to its uniform architecture. Colour and light celebrate beauty, dignity and identity beyond stereotypical representations of marginalised communities.
---
The three projects share with Power’s own practice an attention to places as repositories of history and everyday life, creating a dialogue between visions of the world rooted in reality and open to more evocative dimensions.

Mark Power has spent over forty years exploring the relationship between landscape, culture and social change through long-term photographic projects.
His large-format images move beyond documentation, exploring the space between reality, memory and imagination. ✨

𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒚! 📸

The photograph "Converging Paths at Triangeln" by Martin Wacker is officially among the finalists in the SPACES category of the URBAN Photo Awards 2026! 🤩

This photograph explores the mesmerizing symmetry of the Triangeln Station in Malmö, designed by Sweco Architects and KHR Arkitekter.
By capturing the precise alignment of the escalators beneath the vaulted geodesic glass dome, the image highlights the architects' vision of bringing natural light into subterranean spaces.
The inclusion of a lone figure provides a vital sense of scale, emphasizing the relationship between human transit and the grand, geometric volumes of this award-winning infrastructure.
It is a study of order, light, and the quiet rhythm of urban life.
