The loggia at Balbianello sits where the promontory narrows almost to nothing — water on both sides, Bellagio hazy across the basin, that one arched walkway framing everything past it. By mid-afternoon the light comes in low and warm off the lake. That’s the window we’d built the whole shoot around.
Elisabeth and Ellis took it slowly. No rushing between the loggia and the plane tree clipped into its low parasol of leaves, no hunting for a backdrop — just the two of them moving through a place that does most of the work on its own, if you know when to be standing in it.
That’s the part couples don’t always see coming. At Balbianello the difference between a good frame and a great one is usually just timing: which terrace at which hour, and being there before the afternoon boats start rounding the point.
