Con le onde trasparenti dell'isola di Oahu nelle Hawaii, catturate dallo sguardo di Takashi Homma, vi diamo appuntamento a settembre per svelare le prime novità della sedicesima edizione.

Nel frattempo, continua il percorso di ricerca della manifestazione per portarvi il meglio della fotografia internazionale. Diretta da Francesca Malgara, la fiera pone al centro della riflessione curatoriale il tema 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐝𝐢 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚, proponendosi come luogo d'indagine sulle dinamiche di costruzione delle identità, dei territori e delle relazioni umane.

Giulia Parlato entra nella prestigiosa collezione del Brooklyn Museum.

Siamo felici di annunciare un grande traguardo internazionale: due opere di Giulia Parlato, presentate da Cartacea Galleria durante MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas 2026, sono state acquisite da "The Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl Collection of European Women Photographers at the Brooklyn Museum”

Nata dalla filantropia di Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl, questa straordinaria collezione custodisce oltre 220 opere di circa 90 fotografe europee provenienti da 17 Paesi.
Il progetto Gipsoteca di Giulia Parlato, sostenuto da Strategia Fotografia, Accademia di Brera e Witty Books, è un viaggio tra gli archivi e i corridoi delle storiche Accademie di Belle Arti di Brera e dell’Albertina, nelle quali l’artista si è addentrata adottando lo sguardo di chi cerca tracce in un sito archeologico ancora vivo.

Questa prestigiosa acquisizione consacra la ricerca fotografica dell’artista e testimonia il ruolo della fiera come piattaforma di scoperta e posizionamento della fotografia d'autore a livello globale.

Giulia Parlato enters the prestigious collection of the Brooklyn Museum.

We are thrilled to announce a major international milestone: two works by Giulia Parlato, presented by Cartacea Galleria during MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas 2026, have been acquired by "The Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl Collection of European Women Photographers at the Brooklyn Museum".

Born from the philanthropy of Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl, this extraordinary collection comprises over 220 works by nearly 90 European women photographers from 17 countries.
Giulia Parlato’s Gipsoteca project, supported by Strategia Fotografia, Accademia di Brera and Witty Books, unfolds as a journey through the archives and corridors of the historic Academies of Fine Arts of Brera and Albertina. The artist immersed herself in these spaces, adopting the gaze of someone seeking traces within a still-living archaeological site.

This prestigious acquisition further consecrates the artist’s photographic inquiry and underscores the fair’s pivotal role as a global platform for discovering and positioning fine art photography.

C’è tutta la forza drammatica e teatrale della Roma del secondo dopoguerra in questo scatto di Carlo Bavagnoli, pilastro del fotogiornalismo italiano e storico reporter per la rivista Life.
L'immagine fa parte della sua celebre serie "Gente di Trastevere" (pubblicata in un volume storico nel 1963), un'indagine antropologica e visiva nel cuore profondo di uno dei quartieri più autentici della capitale.
Bavagnoli sposta l'obiettivo dai monumenti ufficiali per concentrarsi sulla strada: qui cattura lo sforzo epico, quasi mitologico, di un mangiafuoco o di un "forte" di strada, impegnato in una prova di resistenza fisica tra catene e ganci, sotto gli sguardi sospesi della folla.

The sheer dramatic and theatrical intensity of post-war Rome unfolds in this shot by Carlo Bavagnoli, a cornerstone of Italian photojournalism and a historic staff reporter for Life magazine.
This image belongs to his renowned series "Gente di Trastevere" (published as a landmark photobook in 1963), an anthropological and visual inquiry into the profound heart of one of the capital's most authentic neighborhoods.
Bavagnoli shifts his lens away from official monuments to focus entirely on the street. Here, he captures the epic, almost mythological exertion of a street performer or strongman engaged in a harrowing feat of physical endurance amidst chains and hooks, all under the suspended, breathless gaze of the crowd.

Lo stile fotografico di Aldo Salucci si distingue per la capacità di trasformare lo spazio architettonico in un territorio metafisico. Con l'opera Le dune della memoria, parte del ciclo On the Nature of Things, Salucci ipotizza magistralmente uno scenario autonomo e futuribile.
Non si tratta di un'apocalisse drammatica, ma di una lenta riscrittura: un avvenire possibile (che forse già esiste in luoghi reconditi e dimenticati) in cui la natura si riappropria dei suoi spazi, confermandosi protagonista indiscussa della realtà, e dove l’umano è presente solo per sottrazione.

Aldo Salucci’s photographic style stands out for its unique ability to transform architectural space into a metaphysical territory. In the work "Le dune della memoria" - The Dunes of Memory, part of his On the Nature of Things cycle, Salucci masterfully projects an autonomous, futuristic scenario.
This is not a dramatic apocalypse, but rather a slow rewriting: a possible future (one that perhaps already exists in remote, forgotten places) where nature reclaims its spaces, asserting itself as the undisputed protagonist of reality, and where the human element is present only through subtraction.

Marta Scavone, artista visiva che fa dell'autoritratto il suo principale strumento di indagine concettuale, utilizza il proprio corpo non come fine, ma come mezzo per dare forma visibile a ciò che è immateriale.
Nell'opera Time Expired, tratta dalla sua suggestiva serie Bazaar of the Unconscious, l'artista esplora le misteriose connessioni tra conscio e inconscio. Ciascuno scatto della serie si sviluppa come una composizione teatrale popolata da oggetti fortemente simbolici, dai colori vibranti e saturi, raffigurante l'artista attraverso un pannello di vetro trasparente, metafora del fragile confine tra sogno e veglia.

Visual artist Marta Scavone positions the self-portrait at the core of her conceptual inquiry, staging her own body not as a mere subject, but as a vessel to materialize the intangible.
In Time Expired, taken from her compelling series Bazaar of the Unconscious, the artist explores the mysterious connections between the conscious and the subliminal. Each shot in the series unfolds as a theatrical composition populated by highly symbolic objects in vibrant, saturated hues. Famoso in tutto il mondo per i suoi scatti aerei, Massimo Sestini ha documentato i grandi momenti della storia contemporanea, le istituzioni e le missioni di salvataggio nel Mediterraneo.
Con l'opera "Jellyfish", Sestini eleva la cronaca in arte visiva: quella che nasce come la documentazione del brillamento di una mina della Seconda Guerra Mondiale nelle acque della Sardegna, si trasforma grazie al suo obiettivo in un maestoso spettacolo plastico.
L'esplosione, catturata dall'alto, plasma nell'acqua la forma fantastica e surreale di una medusa che si alza verso il cielo.

Osvaldo Salas è uno dei più grandi maestri del fotogiornalismo cubano. Celebre per aver documentato i volti più iconici di Cuba (da Hemingway a Fidel Castro), è poi nel ritratto dei protagonisti anonimi che emerge la capacità dell’artista di trasformare il reportage in poesia visiva.
Il suo stile, formatosi durante gli anni trascorsi a New York e poi riportato nell'isola, fonde il rigore del bianco e nero vintage con una sensibilità profondamente umana. In questo scatto senza titolo degli anni '50, Salas si allontana dalla cronaca politica per catturare un frammento di pura vitalità.

Osvaldo Salas stands as one of the preeminent masters of Cuban photojournalism. Renowned for documenting Cuba's most iconic figures, from Ernest Hemingway to Fidel Castro, it is within his portraits of anonymous subjects that his ability to transform reportage into visual poetry truly emerges.

Per l'artista australiana Leila Jeffreys, ogni uc***lo non è solo un esemplare biologico, ma un individuo dotato di una personalità unica. Cresciuta tra la Papua Nuova Guinea e l'Australia, Jeffreys ha sviluppato fin da bambina un legame empatico con il mondo aviario, lavorando spesso a stretto contatto con scienziati e centri di recupero.

Con il suo ultimo progetto, SEABIRD, l'artista sposta lo sguardo verso le estreme latitudini delle zone polari. Celebrendo l'avifauna delle regioni antartiche e subantartiche, l'artista vuole puntare l’attenzione sul precario equilibrio tra queste specie e l’ambiente estremo in cui vivono.

For Australian artist Leila Jeffreys, each bird is more than just a biological specimen; it is an individual possessed of a unique personality. Growing up between Papua New Guinea and Australia, Jeffreys developed a deep, empathetic bond with the avian world from a young age, often working in close collaboration with scientists and wildlife rescue centers.

With her latest project, SEABIRD, the artist shifts her gaze toward the extreme latitudes of the polar regions. In celebrating the birdlife of the Antarctic and Subantarctic, she aims to draw attention to the precarious balance between these species and the radical environments they inhabit

Giada Ripa, fotografa nata a Londra e cresciuta a Bruxelles, intraprende una spedizione sulle orme del Duca degli Abruzzi, ripercorrendo i sentieri himalayani immortalati da Vittorio Sella all'inizio del Novecento. Tuttavia, il suo lavoro non è una semplice ricostruzione storica.
Lo stile dell'artista si traduce in un "attraversamento contemporaneo" dove il paesaggio non è più una certezza immutabile, ma un’entità instabile.
Davanti al suo obiettivo, i ghiacciai si ritirano e le rocce si sgretolano, rendendo visibile il cambiamento climatico in atto.

Giada Ripa, the London-born and Brussels-raised photographer, embarks on an expedition in the footsteps of the Duke of the Abruzzi, retracing the Himalayan trails immortalized by Vittorio Sella at the dawn of the 20th century. However, her work is far from a mere historical reconstruction.
The artist’s style manifests as a "contemporary traversing," where the landscape is no longer an immutable certainty but an unstable entity. Through her lens, retreating glaciers and crumbling rock formations render the reality of ongoing climate change visible and undeniable.
