At a tender age of just 3 years, Gaurav Ramnarayanan wielded a camera gifted by his father. As a child, he spent many of his weekends in a house their family-owned nearby one of the Tiger reserves in South India. Growing up in the lap of nature and being exposed to photography so early in his life, Gaurav’s keen interest in the natural world grew leaps and bounds. With a keen eye for perfection, G

aurav has traveled extensively in India and around the world capturing the myriad wildlife, diverse cultures, and stunning landscapes. All these years spent in the wild photographing a plethora of species across different landscapes has led him to acquire a lot of skills and knowledge with not just the camera, but also with tracking Big Cats and understanding wildlife behavior. He has successfully combined the years of experience from his travels and knowledge of photography to build the very foundation of The Wildside, thus paving the way for all his guests to be able to experience the best. He is a proud winner of 5 international photography awards presented by prestigious institutions, including the Natural History Museum in London, The Rutland Bird Fair in the United Kingdom, and The Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., USA.

A Leopard Mother that has produced over 20 cubs!

An Incredible mother, over the last 6 years since I’ve been following and photographing the Jivdha Female, she has produced 17 cubs across 6 litters and probably one more litter in between that didn’t survive. She also had 2 litters before I saw her in 2021, totalling over 20 cubs that she has produced so far!

This is her most recent litter, with 2 females and a male cub. Born in the monsoons of 2025, these cubs are around 7-8 months old and soon they’d be on their own. Looking forward to seeing Jawai’s next generation thrive!

Being spotted doesn’t mean they are seen.

Today isn’t about just sharing some images and moving on. Leopards live where maps blur—between farms, roads, and shrinking wild. They adapt quietly, but even the most elusive cat can’t outpace habitat loss forever.

If we’re serious about sharing this planet, it has to go beyond admiration. It means space, tolerance, and smarter ways to live alongside what we’d rather not notice.

World Leopard Day isn’t a just celebration of this iconic species. It’s a reminder: survival shouldn’t depend on staying invisible.
