If, like Meg & Andy, you’re an outdoor enthusiast, love camping, and happen to be a bit of a foodie, there aren’t many better places to get married than Mountain View in Kilkenny.

Both living in Melbourne, they came home to Ireland to celebrate with their family and friends. They’d already done the legal bit, so this was always going to be about putting on a party and enjoying every minute of it.

And what a party they put on.

We started the morning in two gorgeous stone cottages in Inistioge, where they had their first look and exchanged private vows. We got the family photographs done before leaving, which meant that once they arrived at Mountain View, there was very little to interrupt the fun.

A lovely, relaxed ceremony in the Cowshed, conducted by their friend Scott, followed by bubbles, Guinness, an extraordinary amount of oysters, and some of the best wedding food I’ve had this year.

Meg and Andy actually met in culinary college, so food was always going to be a big part of the day.

Speeches under the trees, a gorgeous buffet, cake cutting outside in the evening sunshine, and a packed dance floor courtesy of Fierce Mild.

The whole day was just terrific.

A brilliant couple, a brilliant bunch of people, and Mountain View at its very best.

Rebecca & Dan, 56 of their favourite people, a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in the Walled Garden, a spectacular entrance through the Moongate, a Michelin-star feast and one hell of a party afterwards.

Softly does it ....

Meet Georgie & Jake, who reminded me that some of the best weddings happen when you forget about what you’re supposed to do and just do things your own way.

At Waterford Castle, that meant waking up together, getting ready together and even getting dressed together in the bathroom. Jake wore white, finished off with a cracking pair of pink suede Doc Martens. They had their portraits taken before the ceremony because missing out on the drinks reception simply wasn’t an option. And they even cut the cake before getting married, leaving everyone to enjoy it afterwards.

Not a tradition followed for the sake of it. Not a minute wasted doing something they didn’t fancy. Just a gorgeous day, completely on their own terms!

And that’s exactly how it should be.

Amy and Billy have been together since 2008, when they were just young teenagers. They’ve grown up together, travelled the world and built a life for themselves in Melbourne, Australia.

And all these years later, they came home to Ireland to get married, surrounded by nearly 180 of their favourite people.

What followed at Hotel Doolin was just one of those really, really good Irish summer weddings.

The first reveal at Doolin Pier was something else altogether. The backdrop was absolutely spectacular. What we hadn’t quite anticipated was the audience behind us! What was supposed to be a lovely little private moment between Amy and Billy had practically turned into a spectator sport, with a sizeable crowd gathering to watch the whole thing unfold. But it was brilliant fun, and Billy’s reaction when he turned around and saw Amy was absolutely gorgeous.

There were some particularly lovely moments between Amy and her mum, Mags, knowing that Amy would soon be heading back to Australia made those little moments together all the more special.

What a day.

There are weddings where the location means just a little bit more.

Jocelyn and Mark were married in the spectacular St Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan, but this wasn’t simply a beautiful church they had chosen for the day.

Mark’s grandparents were married there in 1964. His parents, Philip and Setsue, followed in 1990. And in 2026, it was Mark and Jocelyn’s turn.

Three generations, in the same cathedral.

That made the photographs afterwards particularly special. Jocelyn and Mark specifically requested we recreate some of those family photographs around the altar, before getting everyone together on the steps outside the Cathedral. And thankfully, after a couple of years of restoration work, the scaffolding had finally disappeared from the cathedral too. Perfect timing.

Then it was back to Castle Leslie, arriving by horse-drawn carriage, a drinks reception full of family and friends who had travelled from all over the world, and some gorgeous portraits around the estate. The emphasis on a bit of craic (and not taking all day!)

One of my favourite little details was their wedding favours. Jocelyn and Mark each chose and thrifted a book for their guests, based on something that reminded them of that person, with a handwritten note inside. An enormous amount of work, but such a personal thing to do.

A beautiful wedding, but more than anything, a day absolutely loaded with family history.

Hey Johnny and Zoe, when they invent time machines, can we do this again?

What a wedding this was.

Two New Yorkers with such a love for Ireland and Irish culture that I still think someone should have handed them honorary passports before they left.

The day started at Gregan’s Castle Hotel, moving back and forth between their adjoining suites as everyone got ready. From there, we headed out into the Burren for their first look at Mullaghmore.
And what a place to see each other for the first time.

Zoe stepped out in that incredible Pronovias dress against the limestone landscape, with Johnny waiting for her in the middle of it all. One of those locations where Ireland really does show off a bit.

Then it was on to Dysert O’Dea Castle for their 3 pm ceremony, held outside on the grass beside the castle. Billy Mag Fhloinn led a beautiful Humanist ceremony filled with Celtic traditions and little personal touches. Intimate, thoughtful and completely theirs.

The weather held beautifully right up until we reached Vaughan’s Pub in Kilfenora, at which point the heavens decided we’d had enough luck for one day.

Nobody cared.

Later, Zoe disappeared and re-emerged in a custom-made traditional Chinese red party dress, and from there the Barn took over. Stunning florals from Jill & Una. Gorgeous speeches, a packed room and eventually an absolutely unhinged dancefloor.

New York had arrived in Kilfenora.

And New York left absolutely nothing behind.

When that time machine is ready, give me a shout.

Serine and Eóin at Borris House, along with their gorgeous seven-month-old daughter, Fiona. An Irish-Norwegian wedding; they met through choir at UCD, and this was not the first time this year I got to witness the power of a world-class choral arrangement. Around 100 Norwegians travelled to Ireland, most of them with a film camera! A brilliant and beautiful day. Really, impossible to condense into words; hopefully the photos will do the talking ;)

Eva & Hazel’s Wedding at Wilton Castle.

I don’t think I’ve ever photographed two people quite so besotted with each other. They’re just ridiculously well suited, and that feeling ran through the whole day. See for yourself, smiling in every picture!

The rain put an end to our plans for a first look in the gardens, so we found a corridor inside the castle instead. It couldn’t have worked out better. From there, we had about six or seven more first reveals with family and friends, all in quick succession, some speeches that hit hard, and a bridal party who were very, very ready for the party.
